unfortunately there is no power in any diesels below 6L. swift n Liva are good.

Decent Power, adequate leg space, spacious and comfortable interiors, good ride quality,airy cabin all in your budget wid decent mileage too.
If you want a sedan you could also buy Tata indigo eCS with CR4 engine. It has all the required features you want and is too much spacious. Fiat Punto too is a great choice but its diesel range will cost in between 6 to 7 lakhs on road, but its the best you'll have Polo's 90hp version costs around 8lacs on road

Dude... Since u dont want a maruti car n u need comfort, try the Liva Diesel.... Trust me the car is huge! Its got a 1.4ltr engine, mileage is 24 (according to ARAI stds) n its really comfortable... N i gues the basic one has ABS! Not too sure! But liva anyday for power and comfort!

if mileage is not a concern why go for a diesel???.... i wud seriously sugg go for swift zxi. perfect for ur requirements and u'l get more for ur money as u do not pay the premium for the diesel.. but since u don even want a maruti choice really boils down to - 1) punto petrol emotion 2) vista 90 hp top model 3) polo comfortline 4) Fabia petrol ambiante. if u want a diesel never the less - 1) punto d active 2) fabia tdi base 3) vista quadrajet top model. these are numbered acc my preferences. at
