That's the proposal Sandeep, to bring about a parity in demand between diesel and petrol cars, and discourage use of diesel, because the government feels the subsidy on diesel is not going to the right people.

Prices of cars, both petrol and diesel are likely to increase, however, the INR 80,000.00 diesel tax is difficult to impose, even for the Govt, given the current circumstances.

well sandeep if you are really thinking about the prices of diesel cars to rise then i would suggest that you better buy one soon because government cant increase the price of diesel and hence because of the pressure by the environmentalists and also because of the reason that diesel cars in passenger segment are increasing as compared to commercial segment, so the government will increase the tax on diesel cars depending on the engine capacity.

Although 80k may be proposed, i doubt that it'll go up by that much. that actual figure might end up being lesser than that. but yes, expect some extra tax on diesels :(
