go for diesel it wont recover in 3 yrs bt may b in 5 yrs but nobody knows petrol may b 100/lit after few months.....of if u can adjust with cng then its another option.

Out of these swift is the leader but my pick out of this is punto. Its a great handler and a head turner on road for sure with adequate power and features...

Well you say you wont drive your car more than 50kms a day and your budget is well given.At 5.5 lakhs on-road you will get I10 sports model,and the petrol engine is refined as well.The maintenance is a bit higher than that of maruti but its manageable.Else if you need a great petrol motor will aggressive looks then have a look the Brio which is scheduled to launch tomorrow,i think it may also be a good option as the motor is V-TEC and ABS,Airbags are standard in each model,you could also opt for

i'll go for diesel its better to give money once n njoy. giving 500-1000 everyday or in 2 days is painful . now adays diesel technology is competing petrol no doubt .cars like bmw n skoda cums in diesel no 1 can say diesel have low pick up or sumthng.......i'll alwys go fr diesel

as per ur requirement i think u shud go for SWIFT. as its looks good, the engine is also frugal, has low maintenance cost its A.S.S. is also good. Also look for i20.only its draw back is its less frugal.but a safe &sturdy car.

There's nothing worng in going for Indica eV2 if you are not concerned of its'TAXI' where many of them consider as one.Well why do taxi market owns this car? because its fuel efficient and VFM.So the features are good in the LX trim,but the rear power windows are missing.But you get a good music system with alloy wheels and the seats are very comfortable in long journeys too.

diesel car - nt ev2 its nt upmarket bt vista is a great one.u will get the base model in less than 5 50 i guess.base model have atleast ac power steering etc. but if u can manage around 6 then u can get vista vx loaded wid feautes n also has abs.

u hav to adjust sumwhere vista offers d most space even most of d sedan dont have such xcept of tata's. if u want space then vista is great bt tata service is nt vry gud.. swift is also an option bt has less space n waitng tym bt service is gud

space wise figo is gud bt i alwys read mixed reviews about it awsum car,bad car no one says nrml car :P

?@vikas thanks for info, visited tata showroom (padit auto) yesterday, i am 6.3 feet tall and vista car roof was just touching head, was not feeling comfortable.. after asking sales executive he said only top end models have driver seat height adjustment. i liked the car but height seems be an issue.

today visited 2 showrroms ford(figo), hyundai(i20).... i20 is spacious but seems overpriced and not much pickup. figo looks just ok car but waiting period for both car is more than 1 month. (they have lots of booking pending for diwali)

visiting maruti today evening for swift and ritz... btw tata guys just called and are ready to give ev2 lx immediately.

i guess swift would be the right option..considering your daily run and the budget, u shud b prety o rather mre hapier with its perfomance n quality..morova it has excellent afta sale service n is also high on resale lookin at its demand..also has a good design n mileage,, o if can wait for decmber for new swift desire compact wich would hardly get u pay a lil mre fr mre space value and bein a sedan is a diff class altogether..dont mean to confuse u mre, js an advice..

thanks @rajneesh, vikas, rajat, vishwas, pravin, apurba, upendra, yogesh & sonia for suggestions and helping me choose car. maruti test drive for both cars was nice. ritz seems just ok to me, nice height and space in car..body shape not so impressive and looks more compact. swift drive feel was impressive, suspension and pickup was awesome...thinking to go with maruti swift.. petrol vdi : 5.60, diesel vdi 6.30 and zdi 7.20.... top end model having ABS, alloywheels, airbags, AC, automatic climate

should i stretch budget and get zdi with all features or vdi without abs is ok? is it worth paying 80000 extra for those features?

yes, except India all other countries are charging diesel with just 5-10% difference(even in pakistan its 94rs petrol - 79 rs diesel). well there is no guarantee of petrol either.. from last june 2010 our so called govt. has increased almost 19rs. (rs. 56 to 75), it may reach up to 100 till 2012 year end. where as to reach 80 rs mark diesel will atleast take 2-3 years....well thats different calculations i am more concern about choosing best car.

?@rajneesh i might not sell this car even after 5 years, first 3 years i will be happy to go with petrol considering 1 lac rs saving, but what after that? after discussing with friend who' having honda city, it was shocking to know that his current expenditure just for petrol is not so affordable for his daily running of 60km; and this might be my case after 3 years; increase in business will demand more run per month.

cng increased 2 rs petrol car k other fuel option bh govt mhnge kr rhi h. ab to bhaiya diesel hi dubte ko sahara h.although it may also rise bt if its rising 2rs then petrol by 3rs ......bye bye petrol.its getting difficult to ride my bike :(

Why don't you got a 3/4 years old Honda City, Maruti SX4 or Honda Civic. One of my friends recently bought a 4 year old (but very good, almost new like condition) Honda Civic only for 5.25 Lakhs.

hey Kumar, hi, well the options u have selected, i guess all the cars go above 6.5lak, atleast in mumbai, i dont knw where u r?? but if u love driving then go for Punto, if u want comfortable and economical drive then go for swift and if u want STYLE then go for i20, but if u want low maintenece its nuthin like that these days that diesel engines are high maintenece, so if there is no specific reason to buy petrol then go for a diesel Punto its nice bit expenssive but try for that as ur specific budget will go lil more if u go and enquire abt specified cars

from the three that you have mentioned , all of these are comfy in the front seats while the punto and the i20 have a bit more comfort in the rear seats. for reliability nothing beats the swift(both svc in numbers and technically) !! though all three of them are on par with each other. looks are totally subjective to personal opinions and vary from me to you(i totally drool over the punto) , now FE is almost the same in all three (expect anything from 13-17(more or less) depending on how you ride and where you ride. handling wise the new swift is all out winner here due to the well sorted suspension followed by the punto(pretty good) and the i20(softer side). happy choosing :)
