Which would be the best comfortable and economical 7-seater diesel family vehicle among XUV 500 and Maruti Ertiga? When does the booking re-opens for XUV 500 and when do the bookings for the Ertiga Zdi start?

Ertiga bookings are open. You can test drive and book at any Maruti dealer. As for XUV, we hope the next window of bookings will be in the last week of May/first week of June. In terms of purchase price, the Ertiga is much lower than the XUV. However, in terms of power, space and features the XUV is much larger and offers more. If you are primarily going to be using it in the city, the Ertiga is more compact and easy to drive. It feels car like (like an extended Swift), and can seat 6 relatively comfortably for city trips (7 is a squeeze of middle row passenger).
Can we have side by side video comparison.
Ajay just one statement for you at the price of one XUV500 you can buy two maruti Ertiga, so how do you think which is more economical? Also technically there is no match between the two.
Both ertiga and XUV500 have rear seats with barely enough legroom. Both are not perfect 7 seaters in that sense. XUV500 has a bit more, but not much. When you compare the two, the Ertiga wins due to its much lower price and Maruti reliability.
If you are looking for a vehicle to seat 7 comfortably, there are really only 3 options under 20lakh: Xylo, Innova and Aria. Innova, well, everyone knows everything good about it. But in its current avatar, I feel it is overpriced by a couple of lakhs, Toyota badge and bulletproof reliability notwithstanding. The Aria is available at discounts ranging from 1.5 to 2 lakh, which effectively bring it down to the 11.5-12 lakh range, on road, for the base 4x2 variant. It is a vehicle which I hold in rather good esteem. Visit a Tata showroom and take a test drive. You will be pleasantly surprised. Xylo is spacious, value for money and basically gets the job done. But it is in no way as thoroughly engineered as the other two and is also let down by Mahindra's shoddy service and support. Vehicles like Ertiga, Scorpio and XUV are basically 5 seaters with 2 extra seats, which work well only for short trips. And the XUV is plagued with various electrical issues, as has been discussed multiple times this past week on this forum.
no doubt ertiga
You are looking for an affordable, value for money MPV and the Ertiga was built to serve this very purpose. It may not have the XUV500's looks and road presence but if you drive one you will clearly notice the difference between the two. The Ertiga is much more car like and easy to drive. I don't think you would actually transport 7 people over long distances in either of the two but if I had to choose the Ertiga would do it better.
I think Ertiga wins over XUV 500, Innova and ARIA both in terms of money, fuel economy and after sale service.
Ertiga is very small compared to xuv, innova and aria. Ertiga is for a hatchback and sedan upgrader under budget not for a suv user at all.
compare the ertiga to the erstwhile now defunct indigo marina....
