With Diesel being deregulated, will it still be a wise decision to buy a Diesel car, as buyer has to pay a premium price. Most people prefer diesel car over petrol because of the price gap of fuel. How is this situation going to be different now.

Good question, this is not easy to calculate! Now each month, we are goign to see a small diesel price hike. That means it will take even more time to recover the additional cost of buying a diesel car. Then comes slightly higher maintenance and service costs. So the way to look at it is, if you were planning a diesel car without too much running, now it makes even less sense than before! If your driving was quite a bit, then it will take longer to recover the additional cost. Same rule of thumb as earlier still applies - lots of driving, buy diesel for its high mileage per liter. Otherwise, no.
Rahul as a simple thumb rule if you want to buy a small car go for a petrol. If it is the mid segment like verna or rapid go for diesel. If you want a petrol in this segment you can go in for the city. Any higher than 1600cc engine go for diesel.
I will buy a diesel car all the time simply because diesels are built tougher, are more fuel efficient than petrols and I like their torquey nature which is very helpful in city driving.
