Skoda Auto India has announced a price hike across models ranging between 2.2 % to 5.1% following the excise duty hike announced in the 2012 Union Budget. The price hike will be effective immediately.

The excise duty for small cars has been hiked from 10% to 12%. The Skoda Fabia falls under this category and sees a price hike of Rs. 17,000 and starts at Rs. 4.6 lakh for the petrol base variant.
The excise duty for large cars with an engine capacity of less than 1.5-litres has been hiked from 22% to 24%. The Skoda Rapid falls under this category and hence gets a price hike of Rs. 25,000. The Rapid now starts at Rs. 6.9 lakh for the base petrol variant. Also read: Skoda Rapid video review
The excise duty for large cars with engine capacities of more than 1.5-litre has been hiked from 22% to 27%. The Skoda Laura, Skoda Yeti and the flagship model, Skoda Superb belong to this category. The Laura gets a price hike of Rs. 40,000 and starts at Rs. 12.9 lakh for the base petrol variant.
The prices of Skoda Yeti SUV have also been hiked by Rs. 50,000 and now start Rs. 13.9 lakh for the base variant. The Skoda Superb prices have been hiked by a massive Rs. 1 lakh and it now starts at Rs. 19.6 lakh for the base petrol variant.
