The Octavia has been in the market since 2013. The car has always been the enthusiast’s choice given that it came with a very powerful 1.8 liter TSi engine making 177 Bhp and 250 Nm. This engine came with only variant though, the top of the line Style Plus.
Skoda has now silently launched a new Ambition Plus variant which becomes the new base variant in the 1.8 liter model range. The variant will come with the 7 speed DSG transmission and is priced at Rs 19.06 lakhs ex showroom Delhi, which is roughly 2 lakhs lesser than that of the Style Plus variant.
What is interesting is the fact that Skoda has decided to keep a lot of features from the Style Plus in this variant. The features that remain are the Bi-xenon lamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, touch screen system with Smartlink, cruise control, auto headlamps and wipers.
What this variant misses out on is the tyre pressure monitor, rear side airbags, sunroof, key-less go, navigation, rear parking camera and memory for front driver’s seat.
Currently, the Octavia comes with 2 petrol engine options and a diesel engine option. The petrol can either be had in a 1.4 liter TSi making 148 Bhp and 250 Nm (one variant, manual) or a 1.8 liter engine making 177 Bhp and 250 Nm (2 variants, only DSG). The diesel comes in only the 2.0 liter form making 141 Bhp and 320 Nm. This comes with both an automatic and a manual transmission option.
Pricing: Rs 16.76 lakhs to Rs 21.22 lakhs (petrol) and Rs 18.76 lakhs to Rs 22.80 lakhs (diesel).
