Skoda Octavia will soon get a special edition in the Indian market. The current Octavia will be replaced with a new one by the mid of 2017, and in a bid to clear the current stock, Skoda will introduce the limited edition variant.
To be called as the ‘Onyx’ edition, Skoda will launch the vehicle with the top-of-the-line, Style Plus variant. The special edition vehicle will get many sporty styling bits. The Onyx edition will get many blacked out features to make it look different. To start with the 16-inch alloy wheels of the vehicle will be blacked out. Also, ORVM mirror housing, front grille and rear spoiler will be blacked out too. On the inside, the special edition will remain unchanged.
The version of the Octavia comes with a lot of equipment. There are a 12-way electrically adjustable driver seat, adaptive headlamps and a panoramic sunroof.
Mechanically, Skoda has kept the Onyx edition untouched. The limited edition vehicle will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is a 1.8-litre turbocharged engine that produces a maximum of 180 BHP. The diesel engine is a 2.0-litre turbo diesel oil burner that generates a maximum of 143 BHP. The petrol engine gets 7-speed DSG gearbox while the diesel one gets 6-speed dual clutch gearbox.
Skoda will raise the price of the special edition Octavia by 20,000 to 25,000. Skoda will unveil the facelift of the Octavia by mid-2017. The new vehicle will come with 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine instead of the 1.8-litre engine. The manufacturer is also planning to bring in the vRS edition of the vehicle in India later. The vRS will feature 1.8-litre turbocharged engine.
