The Tiago has become a game changer car for Tata. The hatchback has been gaining a lot of popularity in the market. Tata launched the AMT version of the vehicle earlier this year but it was available only with the XZA trim that is priced at Rs. 5.39 lakh. Now Tata has launched a new, more affordable variant XTA, which is priced at Rs. 4.79 lakh.
Tata Motors calls it the EasyShift AMT and the AMT unit is similar to the Tata Nano and the Zest. The engine is paired to a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that produces a maximum of 84 Bhp and 114 Nm. The car is also available with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 68 Bhp and 140 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is only available with a 5-speed gearbox.
The XZA variant is Rs. 50,000 expensive than the XTA variant but gets features like alloy wheels, indicators integrated into the ORVMS, chrome inserted in the fog lamps and air vents in the cabin. On the inside, the XZA variant gets four tweeters extra, steering mounted controls, LED fule and temperature gauge, dual front airbags, ABS, seatbelts with pre tensioners and load limiters, height adjustable front headrests. The XZA variant also gets cooled glovebox, rear defogger and a rear wiper.
Tata Tiago has gained a good percentage of the segment in recent times. Tata is also planning to launch a new, sportier version of the Tiago in the coming months. The Tiago AMT will take on the cars like Maruti Celerio AMT in the market.
Tata will also launch their first sub 4-metre compact SUV in the coming months in the form of Nexon. The company is also working on other cars like refreshed Tata Safari Storm and an all-new SUV codenamed as Q501.
