Get ready for some strawberries and cream action on the hot tarmac. India’s own two-wheeler major TVS Motors is gearing up to celebrate Wimbledon by unveiling two new limited edition scooters coinciding with the Wimbledon tennis tournament this month.

TVS Motors has inked a one-year agreement with the All England Lawn Tennis Club as the official licensee for Wimbledon Tournaments and the new scooters will be named Wimbledon Class and Wimbledon Xtreme.

Elaborating on the new vehicles, TVS said that while one of the new scooter models will be paying homage to pristine white with purple and green flow-strokes, basically the Wimbledon colours, and the other would be an exciting red scooter with graffiti art that captures the excitement of tennis.

TVS has said that the Wimbledon collection would comprise as many as 10,000 scooters. Aimed at women with a sporty attitude, the company feels that buyers of the Scooty Pep+ Wimbledon collection will get a complementary branded sweatshirt and a sporty sling bag. The new idea comes after serious research undertaken by the two-wheeler maker on the leading style and fashion trends in India and abroad.

As per research, TVS Motors has found that there exists a growing trend of sports and fitness consciousness among young girls being reflected in fashion trends. They tend to identify with the tennis stars, who continue a long legacy of being style and fashion icons. The new Wimbledon models would pay tribute to these trends. A limited edition launch, the models will retail at a premium of Rs.1599 over regular colours, the company has said.

Meanwhile, the two wheeler seems to be going places too with its existing range. TVS Motor has inked a manufacturing deal with Kolkata-based Mahabharat Motors Manufacturing Pvt Ltd. According to the agreement, motorcycles with the TVS brand name will be manufactured at Mahabharat’s two-wheeler manufacturing facility.

Mahabharat Motors, promoted by the Salim Group of Indonesia and Universal Success Ltd, is all set to establish a two-wheeler manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Kolkata at an initial investment of $100 million, a report added.
