The Ambassador Compact Sedan will be the second prong of Hindustan Motors’ turn around plans, which began with the BS4 variant of the full sized Ambassador sedan. The compact sedan variant is a shortened version of the Ambassador, with a stubby boot to make for a sub-4 meter length. The 1.5 liter OHV turbo diesel engine (49 Bhp-112.5 Nm) will power the smaller Amby sedan. A price close to the 4 lakh rupee mark will make the Ambassador compact sedan a more spacious alternate to many B-segment hatchbacks. But will the Indian car buyer bite the bait? Time will tell.
