10 bike launches, 3 months: From Royal Enfield motorcycles to BMWs to Benelli Imperiale 400!

The Indian motorcycle market has seen some exciting launches in the recent times. Motorcycles like the Apache RR310 and the Yamaha R15 V3 have kept the enthusiasts on their toes. In next three months, as many as ten new motorcycles are scheduled to be launched in India. Here are all of them.

Royal Enfield Interceptor

Royal Enfield unveiled their first ever twin-cylinder powered motorcycles last year. One of them will be the Interceptor which will be the Triumph Street Twin challenger in India. The 650cc parallel twin engine is an all-new product and is air plus oil cooled.

It is the most advanced engine coming out of the Royal Enfield factory ever and gets fuel injection, four-valve heads, and an overhead camshaft. It develops a maximum power of 47 Bhp at 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. It gets a 6-speed unit with slipper clutch. It will also get ABS as standard. The bike is expected to be launched by the mid of this year with a price tag of between Rs. 3-4 lakh.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

Royal Enfield discontinued the Continental GT 535 recently and this one will take its place soon. It shares most of the cycle parts with the discontinued bike and the Interceptor. It gets a different styling for the more aggressive riding position. The Continental GT will be more expensive than the Interceptor in the market when launched.

TVS Apache RTR 180

TVS has updated the line-up including the entry-level Apache RTR 160 in India. Only the Apache RTR 180 is now available with the old looks. TVS will soon launch the updated Apache RTR 180 in a new version in the market soon. The bike will get sharp styling similar to the Apache RTR 180 and will also get ABS. TVS is also expected to add the 4 valve engine technology that is available with the both RTR 160 and RTR 200 to the upcoming Apache RTR 180.


The German brand showcased the much-awaited bike at the 2018 Auto Expo. It will become the most affordable BMW motorcycle in India and will take on the likes of KTM 390 Duke. The BMW G310R is made in India and is already being exported to many foreign markets.

The bike draws power from a 313cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with twin overhead camshafts. The motorcycle produces a maximum of 33.6 BHP of power but weighs only 158 kg, which results in a very good power to weight ratio. The engine is a reversed cylinder design that will give it a better centre of gravity and fun to ride.

BMW GS 310

This will be the smallest GS series from the BMW. The motorcycle has been developed by the BMW Motorrad and will be manufactured at the TVS India plant. The G310 GS will get many signature features of the GS series like the front beak, radiator shrouds, headlamp cowl and the tank design. The motorcycle will be the powered by the same 313cc, 34 BHp-28 Nm engine and will get a six-speed gearbox.

Benelli Imperiale 400

Benelli showcased the Imperiale 400 at the EICMA and it will be launched in India to take on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Classic 500. The retro-styled cruiser is powered by a 373cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces a maximum power of 20 Bhp and 28 Nm. Benelli did not participate in the 2018 Auto Expo but the motorcycle will be launched in the market soon.

SWM SuperDual

Kinetic MotoRoyale will soon launch the SWM branded motorcycles in India. The first of the launches will be the SuperDual that will be assembled in India. The bike is an adventure dual purpose bike and is powered by a 600cc liquid cooled engine. It produces a maximum power of 54 Bhp and peak torque of 53.5 Nm. The bike gets a 6-speed manual transmission and weighs only 169 kg, making it a fun-to-ride bike. There is upside down forks, 300 mm disc at front, 220 mm disc at the rear and ABS as standard. The bike is expected to get a price tag of around Rs. 6 lakh.

UM Renegade Duty S

UM showcased the Duty S at the 2018 Auto Expo and the bike will be launched in June. The cruiser motorcycle looks quite stylish and gets unique features like LED spotting lamps mounted on the front forks. The bike is powered by a 223cc single-cylinder engine that is oil-cooled and fuel injected. The engine produces a maximum of 17 Bhp at 8,000 rpm and 17 Nm at 5,000 rpm. It gets an ARAI certified efficiency of 41 km/l.

UM Renegade Duty Ace

The Ace is another variant of the Duty series and it looks quite modern. The bike gets stylish body graphics and a futuristic-looking headlamp. The cruiser bike is powered by the same engine and gets the same amount of power as the Duty S. The Duty Ace is a single-seater bike meant for city riding while the Duty S is a perfect choice for the highways.

Suzuki GSX-S750

Suzuki will launch the naked street bike that will be assembled in India soon. The GSX-S750 will be one of the first sub 1,000cc global bikes that will be made in India. The bike sources power from a 759cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 111.45 Bhp and 81 Nm of torque. The bike looks extremely sharp and will go against the likes of Ducati Monster in India.
