10 cars & SUVs from the Geneva Motor Show, coming soon to India

The Geneva Motorshow is among the most anticipated motorshows in the world. Every manufacturer wants to bring out their best products at this show, given the presence of a lot of international media. This year was no different either and here are 10 cars and SUVs from the Geneva show, which are coming soon to India.

TaMo RaceMo

The RaceMo made its global debut at the Geneva Motorshow just yesterday. The car is based on an all-new platform. Production is likely to be limited to 250 units. The 2-seater sports car that will be powered by a 1.2 liter 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, making 186 Bhp and 210 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed AMT.

The RaceMo will be the first vehicle from the brand to be mid-engined, which means the engine will sit behind the front axle. The instrument cluster on the inside will feature 3 digital displays that will provide all the driving information to the driver. It will feature disc brakes all around and have ABS and EBD on offer too. The vehicle is expected to be priced around the Rs 25 lakh mark and is expected to be launched by 2018.

Tata Tigor


The Tigor made its global debut at the Geneva Motorshow, in production form. The vehicle will be launched in India later this month. At Geneva, the company revealed all the information there is to know about the Tigor. Being a compact sedan, it will have compact dimensions. It will have a length of 3992 mm. It will be 246 mm longer than the hatchback it is based on, ie the Tiago.

The Tigor will feature DRLs up front. At the back, it will have a large tail lamp cluster which will extend into the boot. On the inside, the interiors are similar to that on the Tiago. It will get a touch screen system as opposed to the normal one that the Tiago has. Power comes from the same 1.2 liter petrol engine (84 Bhp and 114 Nm) and 1.05 liter diesel engine. It will be launched on the 28th of March. 

Tata Nexon


Tata’s compact SUV, the Nexon made its debut in the production ready form at Geneva. While the vehicle showcased there was a Geneva special model, the car will continue to look the same in our market. It will have LED DRLs up front and the LED tail lamps at the back. Unlike the other SUVs in the segment, this one actually looks muscular.

It has a length of 3995 mm, making it fall under the 4-meter bracket, which will give it the excise benefit. The Nexon will feature a new stand alone screen in the center console and will also get a dual tone interior finish, like the Tigor and Tiago. Power comes from an all-new 1.5 liter diesel that produces 108 Bhp and 260 Nm. Details on the petrol engine are yet to be known. The vehicle will be launched near Diwali.

Suzuki Swift

After making its Japanese debut last year, the Swift has finally made its European debut at the Geneva Motorshow. The new Swift will be coming to India by the end of 2017. It will be powered by the same 1.2 liter unit, however it has been retuned to make 90 Bhp and 118 Nm. It’ll also be offered with the 1.3 liter turbo diesel motor. The main highlight of the car is that it is much lighter than the outgoing version and will feature a new look, both on the inside and the outside.

Skoda Octavia vRS


India will finally get the vRS back this year, and that too a proper one. The new Octavia made its global debut late last year, with the twin headlamp design and this is the one that will be coming to the Indian market later in the year. Power will come from a 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine making 230 Bhp and 350 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed DSG. The vRS was the first turbo petrol car that India got and one that most enthusiasts loved. This one is sure to bring that love back. The car will be coming by the end of the year.
