10 cars & SUVs unveiled at the Auto Expo and coming soon to India: Honda Civic to Mahindra XUV700

2018 Auto Expo saw a lot of showcases and concepts from the manufacturers. While there is still some time in the launch of concept models, there were a few unveilings that will be launched in the Indian market soon. We bring you ten such models that were showcased at the Auto Expo 2018.

Mahindra XUV 700

Even though Mahindra has not released an official name of the vehicle, it is the rebadged version of the SsangYong Rexton. It will be the flagship vehicle of Mahindra in India when launched. The seven-seater SUV gets a Mahindra grille and Mahindra logo on the body. It will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in the market.

The rebadged version of the G4 Rexton, the XUV 700 will be powered by a turbocharged diesel engine with 2.2-litre displacement. This engine has been developed with SsangYong and it develops a peak power of 178 Bhp – 420 Nm. It gets a 7-speed automatic transmission sourced from Mercedes-Benz. The launch is expected to happen by the year-end.

Honda Amaze

Honda has showcased the all-new Amaze at the 2018 Auto Expo. The new compact sedan will take on the likes of Maruti Dzire and Hyundai Xcent in the market. The Amaze gets a new platform and a new coupe-like look. The car now looks draws inspiration from the Honda Civic and Honda Accord.

The car will be powered by 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. The petrol engine produces a maximum of 87 Bhp – 110 Nm while the diesel engine produces 98.6 Bhp – 200 Nm. It will be the first affordable diesel car in India to get a CVT automatic gearbox.

Honda CR-V

Honda will launch the all-new CR-V later this year in India. Honda showcased the SUV at the 2018 Auto Expo. The all-new CR-V is already available in the international markets, and Honda will launch the new version in the segment dominated by the Toyota Fortuner. The new CR-V looks much sleeker than the current version and gets a thick slat grille, similar to the current generation of Honda vehicles.

The CR-V that will come to India will be ASEAN-spec, which means it will get an extra row of front facing seats taking the total number of seats to seven. Honda will also launch the diesel version of the CR-V with a 1.6-litre diesel engine that will be made in India. The engine produces a maximum power of 158 Bhp and peak torque of 350 Nm.

Honda Civic

Civic is one of the most awaited cars for the enthusiasts in India. The D-segment sedan is slated for an Indian launch in next one year. The beautiful design of the car turned many heads on the road. Honda India’s chief has said that the Civic will be a good choice for the customers who want to upgrade from the City in the coming times. The Civic is all set to make a grand comeback in India. The new car will be powered by 1.8-litre i-VTEC engine that produces massive 173 BHP.

Tata Nexon AMT

Tata has showcased the long-awaited Nexon AMT at the 2018 Auto Expo. The AMT will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options and an extra of around Rs. 50,000 is expected over the regular models. However, both the AMT variants of the Nexon will be priced below Ford EcoSport AT and Mahindra TUV 300 AMT.

The engine out will remain unchanged and the cars will continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. All the features are also expected to remain same.

Tata Tiago JTP

Tata was working on the sporty version of the Tiago for a long time now. Finally, the brand has unveiled the JTP version of the Tiago that has been developed with the Jayem Auto. The car gets lowered suspension, new air dams and extra vents in the bonnet and fenders. It also gets smoked projector headlamps, side skirts and rear diffuser.

The car uses the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that goes into the Nexon but additional changes have been done to the inatke and the exhaust system to improve the performance. The power output is rated at 110 Bhp and 150 Nm and it gets the 5-speed manual transmission.

Tata Tigor JTP

Tata also showcased the Tigor JTP version at the Auto Expo. It gets exactly same changes as the Tiago and looks smashing. Tigor has been criticised for being underpowered and the new engine, which is the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol generating 110 Bhp – 150 Nm. The car gets similar body changes too.

Mahindra e-KUV

Mahindra has showcased the electric KUV at the Auto Expo that looks exactly similar to the regular version. The e-KUV is a six-seater car that will get smart features like remote diagnostics, cabin pre-cooling, real-time location tracking and driving patterns. The car gets a range of 140 km on a single charge but the power output is not known.

Toyota Yaris

Toyota has showcased the Yaris sedan in India that will take on the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Honda City in the market. This is the first time Toyota will launch a vehicle in this segment and the expected price is around Rs. 8 lakh.

The Yaris is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine but the power output and not known yet. It will get a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT too. The sedan will get 7-airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, reverse parking sensor, TPMS, hill hold, and unique features like roof mounted AC vents.

Toyota Alphard

Toyota is the current leader in the MPV segment in India. With the Innova Crysta, the Japanese brand is ruling the sales chart. Toyota is planning to launch a new, much bigger MPV in the market. Toyota showcased the Alphard MPV, which is a premium people mover.

The Alphard is powered by the same 2.5-litre engine that powers the Camry Hybrid but given the Indian tax situation, Toyota may put the regular engine in it. The car Alphard is one of the most luxurious MPV in the world and will surely attract a lot of attention on the road.
