Snapshot – An unveil and launch blitz is coming. 10 cars and SUVs that matter to buyers here will either be launched or unveiled in the next four weeks. These vehicles will transcend segments. From the affordable to the luxurious, this list has it all. The round up begins.

Toyota Fortuner Global Unveil

The all-new Toyota Fortuner will be showcased to the world on the 17th of July, in an event at Thailand. This very luxury SUV is headed to Indian shores early next year, with the Auto Expo being a possible launch location. The all-new Fortuner will sit on a new version of the IMV platform. New 2.4 liter and 2.8 liter turbo diesel engines that made their debuts in the all-new Hilux, will make it to the Fortuner too. More equipment and better appointed interiors are the other expectations from Toyota’s best seller, which will also get a major visual makeover.

Hyundai Creta Launch

On the 21st of July, India’s second largest car maker will hit the compact SUV button with the Creta. The SUV is expected to square off against the Renault Duster at the lower end and with the Mahindra XUV500 at the higher end of its price band. The Creta will be sold with petrol and turbo diesel engine options. A diesel-automatic variant will be the first of its segment, and if Mahindra does not beat it to the launch with the Scorpio Automatic, Hyundai could have a good run with this particular variant too. The anticipation around the Creta is quite high.

BMW X6 Launch

The second generation BMW X6 luxury crossover will be launched in India on the 23rd of July. The vehicle continues to toe its “love it or hate it but you can’t ignore it” stance. The X6 is a very niche offering in BMW’s line up, bought by those who want to stand out from the regular luxury SUV crowd. As brash as ever, the X6 hits the gym and sheds some weight, all 40 kilograms of it. The engine though, remains the 3 liter, straight 6 motor with 313 Bhp and 630 Nm on tap. An 8 speed automatic gearbox channels all that torque to all four wheels through the xDrive system.

Mercedes Benz S-Class Coupe Launch

The W222 S-Class is one gorgeous automobile that has continued its perch atop the luxury saloon market in India. The car will soon receive a sportier variant, in coupe form. The S-Class coupe variant will be aimed at enthusiasts who want a high performance luxo barge that can take the family out to dinner. While not indulging the family, the car can be put to pedal to metal, unleasing 453 Bhp-700 Nm from the 4/7 liter twin turbo petrol motor. 30th July will be when the S-Class coupe lands in India, as a completely built unit (CBU) straight from Germany.

Mahindra Scorpio Automatic Launch

Mahindra has already sent out variant information about the Scorpio Automatic to the Mumbai RTO, hinting that the launch is just around the corner. If the Scorpio Automatic arrives ahead of the Hyundai Creta, it could steal some of the latter’s thunder. The new variant has been long in the coming, considering that the facelifted model was introduced nearly a year ago. The Scorpio Automatic will be sold in both rear wheel drive and four wheel drive layouts, giving it an unique appeal indeed.

Mercedes Benz S63 AMG Launch

Mercedes Benz will launch three cars on the 30th of July, and the second new variant of the S-Class, which is an all-new car in its own right, will be the high performance S63 AMG version. The S-Class S63 AMG will be the fastest such car in its category, what with a 5.5 liter twin turbo V8 petrol motor under the hood. The motor will push out 577 Bhp-900 Nm, which is enough to even give a few supercars a complex. The S63 AMG variant will be priced at well over 2 crore rupees, and will be the range topper for the S-Class line up.

Mercedes Benz G63 AMG Launch

Mercedes Benz India had stopped selling the G63 AMG off roader for a while now. The powerful, butch SUV will make a comeback on the 30th of July, with new colour options to choose from. The G63 AMG could be mistaken for a Tata Sumo, but that’s until the driver of the former exercises his right foot.With a rorty exhaust note to accompany, the G63 AMG is one SUV that can really take off. How does a 5.1 second 0-100 Kph run sound? And along the way, the Merc will let you plug mud and climb rocks.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Global Unveil

 

The next generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be unveiled in Thailand on the August 1st, 2015. The luxury SUV, which is a Fortuner rival, will head to Indian shores sometime next year. The Pajero Sport is the only vehicle that the Hindustan Motors-Mitsubishi combine continues to sell in India, and with some success. With the competition in the luxury SUV pack hotting up, the automaker needs to quickly bring in the new Pajero Sport. Like the new Fortuner, the 2016 Pajero Sport will pack in a new turbo diesel engine, revised looks and upgraded interiors.

Fiat Abarth 500 Launch

On the 4th of August, Fiat will finally launch the Abarth 500 Competizione in India. The car, which is expected to use the 1.4 liter T-Jet turbo petrol motor in its most powerful state of tune in India, will be sold as a brand builder. A CBU with a right hand drive layout, the car could use the 1.4 liter T-Jet motor with 158 Bhp-230 Nm on tap. A five speed automated manual transmission (AMT) will channel torque to the front wheels. The Abarth 500 is expected to sit a little under the 30 lakh rupee mark. A rich man’s plaything? That’s what this car’s meant to be.

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Launch

The most premium Maruti Suzuki car for India is scheduled to make an early August arrival. The S-Cross will be launched here in the first week of August, and the crossver will be Maruti Suzuki’s latest push up the market. The crososver will be sold in exclusive NEXA showrooms, which could reek of exclusiveness. A diesel-only car that is going against the grain, the S-Cross is an ambitious attempt for an automaker best known for producing highly reliable and fuel efficient budget cars.
