In 2020, a lot of car manufacturers discontinued car models due to the transition from BS4 to BS6. This year, the slow market conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other new updated models have forced a few models out of the market. Here is a list of all the cars.
Ford Figo
Ford exited the Indian market and that is why all the Ford models on sale in the Indian market are not discontinued. The Ford Figo, which was available with both the engine options and automatic transmission was an enthusiast’s delight. Even the crossover version of the Figo, which was sold as Freestyle was taken off the market.
Toyota Yaris

Toyota officially announced that they will discontinue the Yaris sedan in the Indian market. While the new Yaris will not be launched in the Indian market, Toyota will bring the rebagded Toyota Belta based on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Toyota will launch the all-new Belta in the Indian market next month.
Ford Aspire
The Aspire was the sedan version of the Figo and it competed with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and other sub-4m compact sedans. Even the Aspire offered both petrol and diesel engine options. With the solid build quality, many chose the Aspire over the popular offerings in the segment.
Ford EcoSport
The first sub-4m compact SUV in India popularised the segment in India. Launched after Premier Rio, the EcoSport revolutionised the segment with its compact size. The EcoSport was the best-selling vehicle from Ford in India and the manufacturer was already working on a facelift, which was almost ready for launch.
Ford Endeavour
The Endeavour was the only vehicle in India to challenge the very successful Toyota Fortuner. Even though the Endeavour did become a popular choice in the market, it was a low volume product. Ford launched the latest Endeavour with the country’s first 10-speed automatic transmission unit.
Mahindra XUV500
Even though it is available in the Mahindra showrooms at the moment, the XUV500 will be discontinued after the launch of the all-new XUV700 in the Indian market. The XUV500 moniker will return at a later date and a new form to compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Honda Civic
Honda bought the all-new 10th generation Civic to the Indian market in 2019. However, the D-segment sedan simply failed to get big numbers on the sales chart. After reeling under the pandemic wave, Honda discontinued the Civic and also stopped manufacturing the cars at its Greater Noida plant.
Honda CR-V
Even the Honda CR-V was failing to attract a greater sales number, especially due to the presence of stronger competitors like the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in the market. Honda finally pulled the plug on the CR-V last year on 23rd December.
Hyundai Grand i10
Hyundai silently removed the Grand i10 from its model line-up earlier this year. In January, the manufacturer discontinued the model and replaced it with the Grand i10 NIOS. Hyundai has done significant changes to the NIOS to make it look sportier than the older version.
Mahindra Alturas G4
Mahindra Alturas G4 will soon get discontinued in the Indian market. The manufacturer only had around 500 CKD kits of the Alturas at the starting of this year. As soon as they exhaust these kits, Mahindra will take off the Alturas from the market and will not replace them with any other model.
