The Indian motorcycle market has become very mature in recent years. Many motorcyclists have started upgrading to more powerful higher capacity motorcycles. With the year coming to an end, manufacturers are readying for 2017 new models. Here is the list of motorcycles that will arrive in India in the next one year.
Bajaj Dominar 400
The KTM 390 Duke derived naked motorcycle from Bajaj is finally launching in India. First showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, the Dominar 400 has become one of the most anticipated motorcycles from the Bajaj stable. It will be the flagship motorcycle of Bajaj and will come with many new age features.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 will be powered by an engine derived from the 390 Duke’s powerhouse. The 373cc liquid cooled engine will produce around 38 BHP of maximum power. It will be launched on 15th December 2016 and will carry a price tag of around Rs. 1.6 lakh to 1.8 lakh.
KTM 390 Duke
The upgrade of the KTM 390 Duke is the most awaited motorcycle in the market. Scheduled to launch in January 2017, the new 390 Duke will come with some serious upgrades in terms of looks and performance. The new 390 Duke is heavily inspired by the 1290 SuperDuke’s sharp and angular looks.
The motorcycle gets a bigger tank with new tank extensions that makes it look beefy. There is also a new headlamp housing that is divided vertically. 2017 390 Duke features a digital TFT instrument cluster instead of conventional needles. The engine remains the same and produces a maximum of 44 BHP but it has become a lot cleaner with BS IV emission norms.
TVS Akula 310
The TVS Akula 310 is the most radical motorcycle that will come out with a TVS branding on it. The motorcycle will also be the first motorcycle to be launched in India that has been developed with the joint collaboration of TVS-BMW. The Akula 310 will also be the first motorcycle to get ram air technology, something that is seen only in higher end motorcycles till now.
The Akula will use the same the engine that will power the BMW G310R. The engine will be retuned to suit the Akula 310 on tracks. TVS says that the motorcycle has been tested and developed on the track and will be a huge potential for the track riders. The motorcycle will be launched in around February-March 2017.
BMW G 310R
It is the first time ever that BMW Motorrad will sell budget motorcycles developed specially for budget conscious markets like India. The BMW G310R has been developed in association with TVS and will be made in India at TVS plant. The new product from BMW will be very cost effective thanks to a high degree of localisation. .
The naked motorcycle will be powered by 313cc, liquid cooled engine that produces a maximum of 33.6 BHP and 28 Nm of maximum torque. The motorcycle weighs only 158.5 kg and will be a fun to ride motorcycle.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300
After the launch of the Himalayan, the Indian market has opened up for adventure motorcycles. Kawasaki will bring in the Versys-X 300 showcased at the EICMA to India soon. The motorcycle will be a very lightweight adventure tourer with tall screen, spoke wheels, long travel suspensions and an all-new chassis.
The motorcycle will be powered by the Ninja 300 engine. The twin-cylinder engine of Ninja 300 will be retuned for the Versys to provide best long distance riding experience. The motorcycle will also come with ECO mode that will enable the motorcycle to cover 380 km in a single fuel tank.
