The Indian market has seen a huge influx of new motorcycles in recent times. There are many new highly-awaited motorcycles that are slated for launch, later this year. What are these motorcycles and why they are so awaited? Let’s find out.

Royal Enfield Interceptor

Why is it highly awaited? First modern parallel-twin Royal Enfield to be launched in India, fastest Royal Enfield ever. Cheapest parallel twin-engine powered motorcycle in India.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor is a highly awaited motorcycle that has been showcased in India and many international markets. The Interceptor will be an all-new bike from the brand that will be powered by a new 650-cc, twin-cylinder, four-stroke engine.

The engine produces a maximum of 47 Bhp – 52 Nm and will get fuel injection. There is a six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheel. It is expected to get an ex-showroom price of around Rs. 3 lakh. The parallel-twin engine of the bike is expected to make it highly popular in India.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650

Why is it highly awaited? Will be the most affordable cafe racer in India. A parallel-twin engine makes it highly desirable.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 will bring back the good old days of the Royal Enfield cafe racer in India. Royal Enfield discontinued the Continental GT 535 to make space for the upcoming GT 650. It will offer a similar cafe racer like the discontinued model. The forward-leaning aggressive seating of the Continental GT makes it very special. The bike will be powered by the same 650-cc, twin-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 47 Bhp and peak torque of 52 Nm.

BMW G310R

Why is it highly awaited? It will be the most affordable BMW ever. The G310R will make the BMW Motorrad brand more accessible to many enthusiasts.

BMW has announced that the G310 R will be launched in India later this year. BMW G310R is currently being manufactured at the TVS plant in India and is being exported to many foreign markets. BMW also showcased the G310R at the 2018 Auto Expo. The motorcycle has been co-developed with TVS and will take on highly successful bikes like the KTM 390 Duke in India.

The G310R will draw power from a 313-cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with twin overhead camshafts. The motorcycle produces a maximum of 33.6 BHP of power but weighs only 158 kg, which results in a very good power-to-weight ratio. The engine is a reversed cylinder design that will give it a better centre of gravity and make it fun to ride.

Hero XPulse 200

Why is it highly awaited? Will be much more affordable than currently available adventure bikes. Will be a mass segment adventure bike.

Hero will launch XPulse 200 in India soon. The Indian manufacturer showcased the bike at the 2018 Auto Expo and it has been revealed that the bike will get the same chassis and engine as the Xtreme 200R.  The XPulse 200 will get high travel suspension that will make it rough-road friendly. The bike will be powered by a 200-cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that generates a maximum power of 18.4 PS and 17 Nm of peak torque. The bike gets a 21-inch front wheel and a 19-inch rear wheel with dual purpose tyres. The XPulse 200 also gets an LED headlamp.

BMW G310 GS

Why is it highly awaited? Iconic GS brand with an affordable price tag

This will be the smallest GS series from the BMW. The motorcycle has been developed by the BMW Motorrad and will be manufactured at the TVS India plant. The G310 GS will get many signature features of the GS series like the front beak, radiator shrouds, headlamp cowl and the tank design. The motorcycle will be the powered by the same 313-cc, 34 BHp-28 Nm engine and will get a six-speed gearbox.

Emflux One

Why is it highly awaited? Will become India’s first and only electric superbike.

The Emflux One is dubbed as India’s first electric superbike with a whopping 200 km/h top speed, which has been limited electronically. The Emflux One can do 0-100 kph in just 3 seconds, which is seriously fast. The bike is powered by a 60 kW AC induction motor that has been limited to 53 kW for safety. It translates into 84 Nm. It gets a liquid-cooled battery pack that can be charged in 3 hours through regular charger or up to 80% charge in 36 minutes through a fast charger.

Tork T6X

Why is it highly awaited? India’s first electric motorcycle. Will get an attractive price tag.

The Pune-based firm has unveiled India’s first fully-electric motorcycle. The motorcycle will be powered by Li-ion battery and will have a maximum range of 100 km. The batteries charge to full in about 2 hours and Tork says that the battery attains 80% of charge in just one hour. The company is also working to install charging stations in Pune city first and then the motorcycle will be launched in the other major cities of the country.

Suzuki GSX-R250

Why is it highly awaited? Will be the first proper parallel twin 250cc motorcycle in the market

The Suzuki Gixxer SF has been a popular motorcycle in the Indian market. Suzuki is now working to bring in the GSX-R 250. Suzuki will mark its entry in the 250cc segment with the GSX-R250. The bike looks much sharper and sportier than the Gixxer SF and looks heavily inspired by the flagship GSX-R1000. It is powered by 248cc, parallel-twin engine derived from the Inazuma. It has been re-tuned to produce a maximum of 24.7 bhp and 23.3 Nm torque.

Benelli Imperiale

Why is it highly awaited? First bike to take on the Royal Enfield segment directly

Royal Enfield has a free run in india due to its unique vintage looks. None of the manufacturers offers a direct rival to the Royal Enfield motorcycles in India. The retro-styled cruiser is powered by a 373-cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces a maximum power of 20 Bhp and 28 Nm. Benelli did not participate in the 2018 Auto Expo but the motorcycle will be launched in the market soon.

2018 KTM RC 390

Why is it highly awaited? The entry-level race-track bike set to get major updates

KTM launched the 390 Duke with major updates last year but the RC 390 is yet to get any such updates. The new KTM RC 390 is expected to be launched later this year and will get similar updates like a TFT console and a new set of tyres. The KTM RC 390 is quite popular among enthusiasts for its aggressive seating position and raw power and the new update will make the bike much more attractive.
