We are through the first quarter of 2017, and we’ve already seen some hot cars like Maruti Ignis, Honda WR-V and Maruti Baleno RS. For the rest of the year, there are more exciting launches lined-up. Here is a list of the 10 most anticipated cars in 2017 and their timelines.
Maruti Dzire
Expected launch: May 2017
India’s best selling compact sedan from Maruti is all set to get overhauled completely. The automaker will launch the all-new Dzire in India next month. The car will receive quite a few changes. Design-wise, the Dzire will get an all-new grille, similar to the 2018 Swift. The car will get LED DRLs and chrome accents on the grille and the fog lamp housing.
On the inside, the DZire will get faux wood parts on the new 3-spoke steering wheel and the dashboard. There will be a new infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The vehicle will be powered by 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and 1.3-litre diesel engine, same as the current engine options. Both power-torque and fuel efficiency could get a slight boost.
Volkswagen Tiguan
Expected launch: May 2017
The Tiguan will be launched next month in India and the production of the vehicle has been started already. The vehicle will be the flagship vehicle of Volkswagen brand in India and will compete with the likes of Honda CR-V. The boxy design of the Tiguan will get LED DRLs and LED tail lamps.
The Tiguan will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces around 147 BHP and comes mated to the 7-speed DSG dual clutch transmission. There will be a digital instrument cluster and a host of safety equipment in the vehicle. It will be 5-seater SUV and may come with 4WD option too.
Hyundai Verna
Expected launch: August 2017
Hyundai has already begun the testing of all-new Verna in India. The vehicle has been launched in the Chinese market already and the Indian version is expected to be the same version. The all-new Verna gets the typical hexagonal grille similar to the Elantra. There will be projector headlamps, daytime running LEDs and newly designed fog lamps making the Verna look very different from the current version.
On the inside, the all-new Verna is expected to get touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and the Android Auto. Hyundai continues to power the Verna will 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines but there has been a rumour of a mild-hybrid system with the new model. The Verna will compete against the likes of Honda City and Maruti Ciaz when launched.
Tata Nexon
Expected launch: July 2017
With the demand for compact SUVs rising, Tata has also decided to jump in the segment with the Nexon. The vehicle was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and since then a lot of anticipation has built around the car. The Nexon will sit in the sub-4 meter segment and will use the X1 platform that also underpins the Bolt and the Zest.
The vehicle will come with 17-inch alloy wheels, projector headlamps with LED DRLs and all-LED tail lamps. On the inside, the vehicle will get Connectnext infotainment system like the Hexa and will get driving modes too. The Nexon will be powered by an all-new 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine that will produce a maximum fo 108 BHP and 260 Nm. There will be a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine too.
Jeep Compass
Expected launch: August 2017
Jeep has recently unveiled the made-in-India Compass. The Compass will become the cheapest Jeep in India and will be priced around Rs. 20 lakh for the base variant. The Jeep Compass carries signature Jeep design like the vertical grille and trapezoidal wheel arches.
The vehicle will be powered by 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine that will produce around 160 BHP – 250 Nm and 2.0-litre diesel that will churn out a maximum of 170 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. The vehicle will be available in both 4X2 and 4X4 options and will get terrain management system.
