Hatchbacks remain one the first choices of car buyers in India. In 2018, there will be numerous hatchbacks from sporty to electric that will be launched. We bring you ten upcoming hatchbacks that will be launched in 2018.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

Expected launch: Early 2018

Maruti launched the all-new Dzire earlier this year which became a massive success for the brand. Now Maruti will bring the all-new Swift soon. Maruti has already imported the hatchback in India, and it has been spotted too. It is based on the same HEARTECT platform that underpins the Baleno and the new Dzire.

The all-new Swift will also lose a lot of weight and will perform better than the current model. Also, the fuel efficiency is expected to go up considerably. Maruti is expected to showcase the all-new Swift during the 2018 Auto Expo and then launch the vehicle afterwards.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Sport

Expected launch: Mid 2018

Maruti will also offer the more powerful Swift Sport in India after the entry of Swift in the market. The hot hatch will be powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 138 Bhp – 230 Nm. The Swift Sport will also get a body kit featuring new splitter, side skirts, different alloy wheels and contrasting bumpers that will add a racy look to it.

Hyundai Santro

Expected launch: Mid 2018

ix-Metro concept

The new hatchback will be placed between Eon and Grand i10 and will fill the void left by the i10. The new hatchback will be inspired by the ix-Metro concept vehicle and will feature the tall boy design. The production of the car has already been started in the Chennai plant of Hyundai, and the car has been spotted testing too.

The new vehicle would be powered by the 1.0-litre petrol engine from the Eon that produces a maximum of 68.5 Bhp – 94 Nm. Hyundai may also plonk a 1.2-litre petrol engine that delivers a maximum of 82 Bhp and 116 Nm of torque. The Santro will make its Indian comeback in the second half of 2018, as confirmed by the company.

Tata X451

Expected launch: Festive 2018

Tata is still missing from the premium hatchback segment. The X451 will become the first vehicle to be launched on Tata’s new Advanced Modular Platform (AMP). It gets a very futuristic design with inputs from Tata’s Indian and European design teams.

The X451 is expected to be powered by the new 1.5-litre engine that is available with the 1.5-litre engine that is available with the Nexon. There will be a 1.2-litre turbocharged from the Nexon as well. The concept version of the vehicle is expected to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018.

Mahindra KUV 100 electric

Mahindra has announced that it is working on to electrify the KUV 100 and it will be launched towards the end of 2018. The car will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. Mahindra has not confirmed the powertrain that will be used in the upcoming vehicle. However, they have said that the car will not get the powertrain from E2O and they are developing a new powertrain for the vehicle.

Ford Figo facelift

Ford is preparing to launch a new facelifted model of the Figo soon, and it has been caught testing too. The new vehicle will come with visual changes like new mesh grille, updated bumper, headlamps and tail lamps. The new Figo may also get the 1.5-litre Dragon petrol engine, but the 1.5-litre diesel engine will continue to be the same. The car will also get updated interiors with new infotainment system incorporating SYNC3.

Jazz facelift

The premium hatchback from Honda is quite popular in the Indian market. Honda has revealed the facelift version of the global model earlier this year. Honda has confirmed that it will launch a hybrid version of the Jazz in India in the future. The new Jazz gets slimmer grille, new bumper and LED headlamps.

The car gets minor updates like the Honda City did earlier this year. The engine options in the Indian model is expected to remain same. The Jazz competes with the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 in India.

Hyundai Elite i20 facelift

Hyundai is working on the facelift i20, and the test mules of the vehicle have been already spotted in India. The new i20 will share the external design with all-new Verna except for the boot. The car may come with 16-inch alloy wheels and all new interiors with touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new car will retain the engine options from the current model. There will be a 1.4-litre diesel engine while there will be 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engine options. The all-new i20 will launch in 2018.

Tata Tiago Sport

The Tiago hatchback has been gaining popularity in the market. The sales have been increasing every month now, and the manufacturer has also launched the AMT version of the vehicle. Tata is now planning to launch the Tiago Sport, and it will come next year. The car will get a body kit with a new bumper that will add sportiness. The 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that powers the Nexon is expected to be offered with Tiago Sport too.

Datsun redi-GO AMT

Datsun’s best seller, the redi-GO received a more powerful 1.0-litre engine earlier this year. Now, to further boost the sales, the manufacturer is now planning to launch an AMT version of the car. The AMT version will only get the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine that generates a maximum of 67 Bhp – 91 Nm. The AMT is expected to be same as the rotary knob version seen in the Renault Kwid.
