10 new launches in the past 30 days!

July-August 2013 has been a busy month for car makers in India with a slew of launches and unveilings happening ahead of the festive season 2013 in India. Although it’s a bit of a slow market with sales numbers just not looking up for most car makers, they are are hoping things will pick up towards the end of the year.

Just in case you’ve not been following what’s been rolling out in the Indian automotive scene, here’s a look at what’s been launched and unveiled in the past 30 days, in chronological order of launches.

Force One 4×4

Force Motors has added two more variants to the line up of Force One SUVs. It has added a top-end 4×4 variant with a Borg-Warner shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive mechanism similar to the one in the Tata Safari Storme and Mahindra Scorpio. It has also added a low-end variant powered by the Force Gurkha’s engine.

Mercedes E63 AMG

The Mercedes Benz E63 AMG is a car that mates the best of both worlds – a fast sports car and a luxury sedan rolled into one. Priced at Rs. 1.29 crore, the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG is fitted with a 5.5 litre V8 bi-turbo petrol engine that puts out 557 bhp of power and 720 Nm of torque.

Renault Duster RXZ 110 Plus & RXL Petrol Option pack

Renault has added two more Duster variants to the line up, clearly feeling the heat from the Ford EcoSport. One is an upgraded 110 bhp diesel variant with slightly more legroom, achieved by removing the rear AC blower mechanism that used to hamper the middle-seat passenger and the other variant is an upgraded petrol variant with safety pack – including ABS and airbags.

Hyundai Santro Celebration Edition

Hyundai launched a limited-edition Santro Xing called the Santro Celebration Edition to celebrate 15 years of the car’s roll out in India. The limited-edition Santro comes with some extra features for just a marginal price increase of Rs. 11,000, which includes a music system, parking sensors and rear curtain.

Rolls Royce Wraith

If you’ve been looking at an ultimate luxury car, then the Rolls Royce Wraith is as exclusive as it gets. The Wraith is priced at Rs. 4.6 crore ex-showroom Delhi and the car has already been booked out, with very few being made worldwide. It is powered by a massive 12-cylinder petrol engine putting out 624 bhp of power and 800 Nm of torque!

Audi Q3S

Audi has launched its most inexpensive vehicle yet – the Audi Q3S priced at under Rs. 25 lakh. The Audi Q3S is a tw0-wheel drive variant of the Audi Q3 and comes with a six-speed manual transmission mated to a 2-litre diesel engine putting out 140 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque. It is a tempting buy for those looking at a status symbol of an SUV without breaking the bank.

Nissan Terrano

Nissan has unveiled its compact SUV the Nissan Terrano. This vehicle is a rebadged and cosmetically re-engineered Renault Duster. The vehicle is likely to be more expensive than the Renault Duster but is mechanically identical. Bookings for this begin on September 1, 2013.

 

Maruti StingRay

Tired of the plain-looking boxy Wagon-R? Then try out the StingRay, which is again a cosmetically enhanced Wagon-R, but is being positioned as a new car. It has completely different front styling, which is quite radical, but functionally it is still a Wagon-R. It costs about Rs. 23,000 more variant for variant.

Volkswagen Cross Polo

Still more cosmetic enhancements. This one is a Volkswagen Polo diesel Highline, with an added dose of plastic cladding, roof rails and badging. The Volkswagen Cross Polo is priced at Rs. 7.75 lakh and has that pseudo-SUV look for those who want a car to look tough.

Tata Safari Storme Explorer Edition

Tata too has launched a kitted-out Tata Safari Storme, calling it the Explorer Edition. This vehicle comes with about Rs. 56,000 worth of accessories fitted to the vehicle which includes some camping and outdoor gear as well. It is no-doubt a visually appealing vehicle for those who love adventure.
