10 new Mahindra cars coming to India: XUV700 to Scorpio Getaway

Mahindra and Mahindra recently launched the much-awaited Marazzo MPV in the market. In the coming times, Mahindra is planning to launch many new cars in different segments. Here are all the Mahindra cars that are scheduled to be launched in the Indian market in the coming times.

Mahindra XUV700

Expected launch: October-November 2018

Even though Mahindra has not released an official name of the vehicle this vehicle is expected to be called as the XUV700. It is a rebadged version of the SsangYong Rexton G4, which is already available in many international markets. It will be the flagship vehicle of Mahindra in India when launched. The seven-seater SUV gets a Mahindra grille and Mahindra logo on the body. It will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in the market.

The rebadged version of the G4 Rexton, the XUV700 will be powered by a turbocharged diesel engine with 2.2-litre displacement. This engine has been developed with SsangYong and it develops a peak power of 178 Bhp – 420 Nm. It gets a 7-speed automatic transmission sourced from Mercedes-Benz.

Mahindra S201

Expected launch: Late 2018-Early 2019

Mahindra is also working on the SsangYong Tivoli based compact SUV for the Indian market. It will be the first of the Mahindra cars that will be developed on the SsangYong platform in India. The S201 will be the sub-4-meter version of the car and will take on the vehicles like Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the likes. This will Mahindra’s fourth vehicle in the segment after the launch of Quanto, NuvoSport and the TUV 300.

The S201 will get monocoque chassis and will be powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. There will be a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will develop class-leading 140 Bhp while the diesel variants will be powered by a 1.5-litre engine that develops a maximum of 125 Bhp. There will be no AWD option available with the S201.

Mahindra S201 LWB

Expected launch: Mid 2019

Mahindra will also launch a long wheelbase version of the S201. Internationally, the long wheelbase version gets more luggage room and rear space but the Indian version will get an additional row of seat. The engines are expected to be same as the S201 SWB. This model will take on the likes of Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta in the market. It has been caught testing in India alongside the regular version of the S201.

Mahindra KUV 100 AMT

Expected launch: Early 2019

Mahindra launched the facelift version of the KUV in India recently. During the launch, they announced that they would soon launch the AMT version of the KUV 100 with both petrol and diesel engine options. The KUV 100 is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that develops 84Bhp – 114 Nm and 1.2-litre diesel that produces 77 Bhp – 190Nm. KUV is the entry-level vehicle of Mahindra in India. It is marketed as a micro SUV from the brand.

Mahindra eKUV 100

Expected launch: 2019

Mahindra announced that they will launch an electrified version of the entry-level hatchback soon during the launch of KUV NXT. Mahindra showcased the electric KUV at the 2018 Auto Expo that looks exactly similar to the regular version. The e-KUV is a six-seater car that will get smart features like remote diagnostics, cabin pre-cooling, real-time location tracking and driving patterns.

The car gets a range of 350 km on a single charge but the power output is not known. However, Mahindra has promised that the electrified KUV will get a 0-100 km/h time of 9 seconds and a top speed of 186 km/h, which is quite fast for a car of this segment. It will be one of the cheapest electric cars in the Indian market when launched.

Mahindra Marazzo petrol

Expected launch: Late 2019

Mahindra Marazzo is currently available with the diesel engine option only. Mahindra has said that they are working on an all-new petrol engine that will power the Mahindra Marazzo in the future. The stricter emission norms of BS VI will be followed in the Indian market from 2020. Mahindra’s new petrol engine will be BS VI compliant. The engine is currently under development and is being jointly developed with SsangYong.

Mahindra Marazzo AMT

Expected launch: Late 2019

Mahindra launched the Marazzo recently but the car is available only with the manual transmission. As the popularity of the automatic cars is increasing in India, Mahindra announced that the AMT automatic variants of the Marazzo will be launched in the market soon and it will be available with both the petrol and diesel engine options to target a wider audience.

Mahindra TUV300 Facelift

Expected launch: Late 2019

After a much delay, Mahindra finally launched the TUV300 Plus in the Indian market. The seven-seater MPV looks quite rugged but the front-end is identical to the regular TUV300. Mahindra is working on the facelifted version of the TUV300 to keep it fresh in the market. We can expect the new model to arrive in the Indian market by mid-2019.

Mahindra all-new Thar

Expected launch: 2020

Mahindra Thar has been around for quite some time now. It is still using the good old platform and has been selling in the market without any major changes. From 2020, all the cars sold in India should meet crash test criteria that the current-generation Thar will fail without any doubt. To ensure the continuity of the legendary car, Mahindra is working on an all-new Thar that will look much more advanced and will be much more safer and comfortable than the current model.

Mahindra Scorpio Getaway

Expected launch: 2019

The facelifted version of the Mahindra Getaway is already on sale in many international markets but it is yet to be launched in the Indian market. The new Getaway gets the similar updates that are received by the Mahindra Scorpio SUV. It looks much more modern and fresh. The car has been caught testing multiple times in India and is expected to be launched soon.
