10 new Mahindra cars & SUVs coming to India

Mahindra has a large portfolio of vehicles in India. This year, the brand did not launch many new cars in the market. However, Mahindra is planning to launch a slew of products in the coming years. Here are ten cars from Mahindra and their launch launches.

Scorpio facelift

Expected launch: mid-November 2017

Mahindra is planning to launch a facelift version of the Scorpio, and it is expected to be launched by mid of this month. The new Scorpio will come with minor visual changes like a new grille, new rear bumper and new tail lamps. It is also expected to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible infotainment system.

The new car is also expected to get a more powerful engine from the XUV 500. The 2.2-litre engine will now produce a maximum power of 140 Bhp – 330 Nm, similar to the XUV 500. It has not been confirmed yet, but there is enough speculation about the same. It is also expected to get a 6-speed automatic.

TUV 300 Plus

Expected launch: December 2017

Mahindra is testing the long wheelbase version of the TUV 300, and it will be launched in December. The body-on-ladder frame car will get an extra row of seat, and the vehicle is expected to replace the Xylo from the market.

The TUV 300 Plus is expected to get a 1.5-litre twin-scroll turbocharged engine that develops 100 Bhp – 240 Nm. The new vehicle will take on the likes of Renault Lodgy and Maruti Ertiga in the market.

KUV 100 AMT

Expected launch: January 2018

Mahindra launched the facelift version of the KUV in India recently. During the launch, they announced that they would soon launch the AMT version of the KUV 100 with both petrol and diesel engine options. The KUV 100 is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that develops 84Bhp – 114 Nm and 1.2-litre diesel that produces 77 Bhp – 190Nm.

S201 (5-seat)

Expected launch: 2018 end

The Tivoli based premium compact SUV will be launched to take on likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport in the market. The heavily modified version of the Tivoli will get a monocoque body. It will be powered by 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol and 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine.

XUV 700

Expected launch: 2018 end

This will be the new flagship of Mahindra and will be based on the SsangYong Rexton. The car will be a 7-seater premium SUV that will be launched in the Toyota Fortuner segment in India. The price tag is expected to be around Rs. 20 lakh. It is expected to be powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that churns out a maximum of 189 Bhp – 420 Nm. Both manual and automatic transmissions are expected.

Mahindra S201 (7-seat)

Expected launch: 2019

This will be the long-wheelbase version of the sub 4 meter S201.SsangYong Tivoli also gets an extended wheelbase version in the international market, but the extra room is used for the roomier boot space. In India, the extra will be utilised with an extra row of seat. The car is expected to be powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. There will be a 1.2-litre direct injection petrol engine that develops a maximum of 140 Bhp while the 1.5-litre diesel engine will develop around 125 Bhp.

U321 MPV

Expected launch: 2019

The Mahindra U321 is an upcoming MPV that Mahindra will field against the Toyota Innova in the market. The 7-seater MPV will offer a lot of premium features and a great level of comfort. The MPV has been caught on test multiple times already.

This is the first MPV that is being developed by the manufacturer’s North American development centre in Troy, Michigan. The U321 will be a global MPV that will be available in various markets including India. Details like platform or engine are not known as of now.

Scorpio Getaway pick-up

Expected launch: 2019

Mahindra’s pickup truck for private buyers, Scorpio Getaway is yet to get the facelift update. The Scorpio Getaway, however, has been caught testing in India numerous times. The new Getaway will get similar front fascia like the Scorpio. The four-seater pickup is expected to get similar features as Scorpio. The same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine will power the vehicle, and it will also get an optional 4X4 system. The new Getaway will rival the Isuzu V-Cross pick up truck.

Thar

Expected launch: 2019

With the introduction of new safety rules in 2020, the current generation Thar will have to get an update to meet the new norms. The new Thar will get crumple zones among many other changes. There is no information on how the new Thar may look like. We can expect new engines are powering the all-new Thar too.

XUV Aero

Expected launch: Late 2018

Mahindra gave the green signal for the production of the XUV Aero. The SUV-Coupe styled vehicle will be the cheapest of its kind in India. Mahindra earlier planned to launch an electric version of the vehicle, but now it will be powered by a turbo-diesel engine. During the last Auto Expo, we saw the concept model of the XUV Aero, during the current Auto Expo, we expect to see the production version.
