India’s biggest auto manufacturer is facing stiff competition. New launches from competitors in multiple segments have forced Maruti to bring in new products to the market. Maruti plans to respond with a launch blitz of its own. Yes, 10 new cars from the Japanese automaker will arrive in the next year.

The Ignis was showcased at this year’s Auto Expo as a concept model. Maruti announced that the car will come to the Indian market this year. The new hatchback from Maruti will replace the Ritz and will be a direct competitor to the Mahindra KUV100. The Ignis will complement its SUV-inspired looks with 180 mm of ground clearance
It will be sold through the premium, Nexa dealership network of Maruti. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that will produce 83 BHP of maximum power and a 1.3-litre multijet diesel engine with 75 Bhp-190 Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT automatic gearbox are expected with the Ignis.
WagonR 7 Seater
When: Early 2017
Starting price: Rs. 6.5 lakh
The WagonR 7-seater has been speculated for India since a long time. The car is basically a stretched version of the WagonR and will take on the Datsun Go+. Even though the Go+ did not become very popular in the Indian market, the WagonR 7-seater, being a Maruti car, may pull a lot of crowd towards it.
The WagonR is already a spacious car and is popular among private buyers as well as commercial fleet owners. The 7 seat version of WagonR will also come with factory fitted CNG kit along with a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine. The larger engine is meant to cope with the extra weight and carrying capacity of the car.

It has been a long time since we saw any major update with the Swift. A new car is being developed and will make its global debut soon. The new Swift will be an all-new model. It will be 100 kg lighter than the current version and will be more fuel efficient too.
The new Swift will roll out of Maruti’s Gujarat plant and will be powered by 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine. There will be a newly developed diesel engine by Suzuki too. The new Swift is touted to be much more fun to drive and will be built while keeping driving enthusiasts in mind.

The sub-4 metre sedan based on the Swift will soon follow its hatchback sibling. The DZire will also shed weight and will be more fuel efficient and quicker. The car has been the best selling compact sedan since years now and the new DZire is expected to follow suit.
Maruti will put current engine options in the new DZire and the car may also get the SHVS mild hybrid system, like the Ciaz and the Ertiga. This is expected to make it fuel efficient and also cheaper because of the tax benefits associated with hybrids.

Maruti launched the Vitara Brezza in India and it has become a successful product in the market. The company is now mulling a bigger SUV to take on the successful Hyundai Creta. Say hello to the Vitara, a compact SUV that’s available in front wheel drive and all wheel drive options.
The new Vitara is already available in the international market and looks very stylish. The car will go on sale with an option of 1.4-litre VVT petrol engine and the 1.3-litre diesel engine. Maruti is also likely to offer the bigger 1.6-litre diesel engine, which also powers the S-Cross.
