The Indian motorcycle industry was pretty exciting in the year 2016. The launch of the bikes like Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Bajaj Dominar 400 rounded up the year on a good note. There are much more motorcycles to look forward to in the year 2017. Here are ten super exciting yet affordable motorcycles that will be launched in the Indian market in the coming year.
2017 KTM 390 Duke
This is the first major update of the 2017 KTM Duke 390, and the motorcycle has been transformed completely with the new updates. The all-new Duke 390 is much more aggressive and sharper than the current model. The new Duke 390’s design has been inspired from the 1290 SuperDuke, which is one of the most violent-looking motorcycles in the market. The new 390 Duke gets vertically partitioned headlamp with LED DRLs in it. The super sleek motorcycle also gets a larger tank with new extensions, making it look even more convincing.
The motorcycle has been radically changed with the underbelly exhaust relocated to the conventional side of the motorcycle. KTM has also updated the catalytic converter of the bike, which means the motorcycle is now BS IV compliant. The 373.3cc 44 BHP-35Nm of maximum torque. The 2017 Duke 390 also receives an all-new infotainment console with Bluetooth. The all-digital console can connect to a smartphone and shows notifications on the screen.
2017 KTM 200 Duke
The 200 Duke is the cheapest offering of KTM in India. KTM has overhauled all the motorcycles in its line-up for 2017, and the 200 Duke will receive similar upgrades to the 250 Duke. The body design of the 200 Duke will remain very similar to the 390 Duke with aggressive body styling.
The engine of the 200 Duke will also get a slight rise in power bump with maximum power at 26 BHP. The 200 Duke will be targeted at the budget conscious customers who do not want to miss out on performance and styling. The 200 Duke will miss out on many features like ride-by-wire technology, TFT instrument cluster, LED lamp powered headlight and more. The new 200 Duke will get similar instrument cluster like the current one.
2017 KTM RC 390
The new RC 390 will follow the same updates that go into the 390 Duke. The RC 390 will be more angular and get razor sharp looks. The fully-faired version of the 390 Duke will receive similar updates like new chassis, bigger brakes, LED headlamps and TFT instrumentation. The design of the motorcycle stays the same, but it gets new color options. As the RC 390 already features ride-by-wire technology, it is being said that the upgraded model will come with advanced features like riding mode to make it more engaging to ride around. The engine will be similarly updated to make it compliant with the BS IV updates too.
2017 KTM RC 200
The RC 200 will get an upgraded version after the launch of the 200 Duke in India. The updated RC 200 will be the fully faired version of the 200 Duke and will carry similar updates as the new Duke. The fairing of the cheapest fully faired KTM motorcycle will be analogous to the RC 390. The engine will the same as the updated Duke, which will be liquid-cooled single cylinder 119.5cc churning out around 26 BHP, the current one produces 24.5 BHP. The motorcycle will also get ABS. Similar to the RC 390, the motorcycle will get new colour options, but the overall design will remain the same.
TVS Akula
The TVS Akula 310 will be the most radical motorcycle coming out with the TVS brand ever. The motorcycle has been jointly developed by KTM and TVS and will be their first product in the country. The Akula 310 is based on the BMW G310R, which will enter the Indian market at a later stage.
The Akula 310 will be the first budget motorcycle in India to get the ram air technology. It will be powered by the same 313cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that churns out a maximum of 34 BHP and 28 Nm of maximum torque but the power will be retuned on the fully-faired motorcycle. TVS says that the suspensions of the motorcycle have been developed on the track. Hence it will provide one of the best handling capabilities.
