While a lot of talk has been going on regarding the implementation of GST (Goods and Services Tax), it has finally come into effect from the 1st of July and rejoice, most cars and SUVs have become a lot cheaper. Here are 10 SUVs which have seen massive price drop:

Ford Endeavour

Rs 3.47 lakhs

Ford has managed to do well with the Endeavour. Not only is the vehicle well loaded, but it also looks and feels premium. While there were a lot of variants that were on offer on the Endeavour before, the company has now discontinued most of them and we are left with only 3 variants, all in automatic. There is the 2.2 liter unit or the 3.2 liter unit. While the 2.2 produces 158 Bhp and 385 Nm, the 3.2 produces 197 Bhp and 470 Nm. The Endeavour is now cheaper by upto Rs 3.47 lakhs.

Toyota Fortuner

Rs 3.26 lakhs

The Toyota Fortuner is one vehicle that doesn’t need any introduction. It has been the segment leader, for most of its tenure. Ever since the all-new version was introduced, the Fortuner has been managing to sell great numbers. The Fortuner will now be on offer with a price cut of upto Rs 3.26 lakhs on the diesel model. The vehicle is offered with 2 engine options, a 2.7 liter petrol and a 2.8 liter diesel. Both are offered in automatic and manual guise.  The diesel makes 174 Bhp and 450 Nm while the petrol makes 164 Bhp and 245 Nm.

Hyundai Tucson

Rs 2.9 lakhs

The Tucson is Hyundai’s latest launch and it is a 5-seat softroader which takes on the likes of the Honda CR-V and the newly launched VW Tiguan. The Tucson can be had with a 2.0 liter petrol or a 2.0 liter diesel engine. The diesel engine produces 182 Bhp and 400 Nm where as the petrol produces 153 Bhp and 192 Nm. The Tucson will now be upto Rs 2.9 lakhs cheaper in the diesel guise.

Mahindra XUV500

Rs  2.64 lakhs

The XUV500 has been a successful product for the company, managing to sell close to 2,000 units every month. It outsells all the sedans in that segment by a huge margin. The XUV can be had with only a 2.2 (or 1.99 liter, if in Delhi) liter diesel engine, with both manual and automatic transmissions. The engine produces 140 Bhp and 330 Nm. The XUV is now cheaper by upto Rs 2.64 lakhs, making the vehicle more VFM than it already is.

Tata Safari Storme

Rs 1.79 lakhs

The Safari is Tata’s longest selling SUV. This was the vehicle that started the SUV craze in the Indian market. The Storme is the latest iteration and is powered by the 2.2 liter unit which powers the Hexa. It prodcces 154 Bhp and 400 Nm. It can be had with either 2wd or 4wd. The vehicle is seeing a price cut of upto Rs 1.79 lakhs.

Renault Duster

Rs 1.71 lakhs

The Duster, which was once Renault’s highest selling model has now begun to show its age. While it is a very capable vehicle, an all-new Duster is to be unveiled in the global market soon which will follow into the Indian market sometime next year. The Duster can be had with either a 1.5 liter petrol or a 1.5 liter diesel, in 2 states of tune. The Duster will see a drop in price of upto Rs 1.71 lakhs.

Hyundai Creta

Rs 1.70 lakhs

Hyundai’s most successful compact SUV and the segment leader, the Creta will see a price drop of upto Rs 1.7 lakhs. The Creta is well loaded and offers a wide range of engine and transmission options, to suit everyone’s needs. The vehicle can be had with either a 1.4 liter or a 1.6 liter diesel or a 1.6 liter petrol. Both the 1.6 liter engines can be had with an automatic and manual transmission. The diesel 1.6 produces  126 Bhp and 265 Nm while the petrol one produces 122 Bhp and 154 Nm.

VW Tiguan

Rs 1.48 lakhs

VW’s latest offering, the Tiguan has also seen a price cut of upto Rs 1.48 lakhs. The Tiguan is a 5-seat SUV, which, according to VW takes on the likes of the Mercedes GLA, the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. The Tiguan gets AWD on all variants and power comes from a 2.0 liter engine that makes 141 Bhp and 340 Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DQ500 DSG transmission.

Tata Hexa

Rs 1.18 lakhs

The Hexa is Tata’s latest entrant in the XUV category. It is a 6/7 seat vehicle which has the option of AWD too. The Hexa is powered by the 2.2 liter Varicor engine which makes 154 Bhp and 400 Nm. It can be had in both manual and automatic transmissions. The Hexa will see a drop in price of upto Rs 1.18 lakhs.

Maruti S-Cross

Rs 1.03 lakhs

Maruti’s Creta rival, the S -Cross will see a price drop of upto Rs 1.03 lakhs. The S-Cross is powered by either a 1.3 or a 1.6 liter diesel engine, both sourced from Fiat. The 1.6 makes 118 Bhp and 320 Nm where as the 1.3 makes 89 Bhp and 200 Nm. Both engines can only be had with a manual transmission. The company is planning to launch a facelift of the vehicle sometime during the festive season.
