Even though the hatchbacks are not as popular as they used to be in the Indian market, they remain the best-selling body style in India. All the major manufacturers in India offer a hatchback in the Indian market and soon, many new hatchbacks will be launched in the market. Here is a list of all the ten hatchbacks that will be launched in next one year.
Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS
Expected launch: August 2019
Hyundai will launch the all-new Grand i10 (called the NIOS) in the Indian market later this year. The all-new car will take on the vehicles like Maruti Suzuki Swift in the market. It will get some major changes including the design. The front of the all-new Grand i10 will get a bigger grille and a host of changes including a new bumper, new headlamps and a new styling. The all-new Grand i10 NIOS will get powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine but Hyundai may not launch the diesel engine with the car due to the upcoming BS6 emission norms. It will get the AMT automatic transmission just like the Santro.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso
Expected launch: September 2019
Based on the Future S concept showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will be an entry-level premium hatchback with SUV-inspired styling. It will be sold through the Arena dealership network of the brand. It will get a bulky design and will be sold through the Arena dealership network of the brand. The S-Presso is expected to get powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine, which will be BS6 compliant.
Renault Kwid
Expected launch: September 2019

Renault will launch the Kwid facelift in the Indian market later this year. The most successful Renault car will receive major updates including a new grille and new headlamps. The car will also get a lot of updates inside the cabin. The engine will be updated to meet the BS6 norms but the power and torque output will remain the same.
Tata Altroz
Expected launch: August/September 2019
Tata will launch their first-ever premium hatchback in the Indian market in the form of Altroz. The all-new car will be the first vehicle on the all-new AFLA platform. It will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Honda Jazz in the Indian market. Initially, Tata will only offer a diesel engine option with the Altroz. However, at a later date, a petrol engine and an automatic transmission will be offered with the all-new Altroz.
Tata Tiago
Expected launch: September 2019
The Tata Tiago will get a facelifted version in the Indian market soon. It will be launched with the BS6 compliant version of the Tiago in the Indian market. Currently, the vehicle has been spotted testing on the roads under heavy camouflage and it is expected to get a few minor changes that will make it look fresher in the market. Tata is expected to discontinue the diesel engine option in the vehicle and offer only the petrol engine.
Honda Jazz
Expected launch: 2020

Honda will launch the all-new Jazz in the Indian market later this year and the upcoming hatchback has been spotted testing on the international markets too. Honda is expected to do some styling updates but retains the overall shape of the premium hatchback. The Jazz is currently the only hatchback in the Honda portfolio in the Indian market. The all-new version of the Jazz is also expected to get a hybrid system with the petrol engine options.
Hyundai Elite i20
Expected launch: Early 2020
Hyundai will launch the all-new Elite i20 in the Indian market to take on the upcoming Tata Altroz and the current market leader Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The upcoming Elite i20 has already been spotted testing on the Indian roads and it is expected to get a very aggressive design. The third-generation Elite i20 is expected to get powered by an all-new 1.0-litre turbocharged engine that also powers the Hyundai Venue. It will also get the BS6 compliant 1.4-litre diesel engine.
Volkswagen Polo
Expected launch: End 2019
Volkswagen is testing updated Polo in the Indian market and the car has already been spotted testing on the public roads. It is yet another update based on the current-generation Polo. It should be noted that Volkswagen will not bring the all-new Polo to the Indian market anytime soon. The new version of the Polo is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
Maruti Suzuki Alto
Expected launch: Early 2020

Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling hatchback, the Alto will soon get its third-generation in the Indian market. The all-new Alto will be much safer than the current version and will also get a fresh face. Maruti Suzuki is likely to give a crossover-inspired look to the Alto to make it look bold.
