2013 Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI now available in Ambition Trim

Skoda India has added the Ambition trim to the 2013 Octavia 1.8 TSI model, a car that was so far available only in Elegance trim.

The Octavia 1.8 TSI, in Ambition trim is priced at 20.71 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Bangalore, nearly 2.5 lakh rupees cheaper than the Elegance model, which carries a price tag of 23.09 lakh rupees. With the addition of the Ambition trim to the Octavia 1.8 TSI, the car is now available in 8 variants, 4 each in petrol and diesel. Also see: Skoda Octavia road test

Skoda dealerships in Bangalore have the 1.8 TSI Ambition model ready for delivery. Though Skoda India did get flooded with an initial deluge of bookings for the 2013 Octavia, the Volkswagen group owned Czech car maker seems to be managing its production smartly, at least for the petrol variants of the Octavia. The diesel variants of the Octavia, ones with the most demand, come with waiting periods of 2-4 months, depending on the location of order.

The Octavia 1.8 TSI in Ambition trim retains the 1.8 liter TSI motor in 175 Bhp-250 Nm state of tune. Torque transmission to the front wheels is by means of a 7 speed dual clutch DSG gearbox. The car also retains the multi-link suspension at the rear, a major selling point aimed at those who value handling. In terms of equipment, here’s what the Octavia 1.8 TSI in Ambition trim loses:

Other engine options for the 2013 Octavia include a 1.4 liter TSI petrol motor outputting 138 Bhp-200 Nm and a 2 liter TDI turbo diesel engine outputting 148 Bhp-320 Nm. While the 1.4 liter petrol engine comes with a 6 speed manual gearbox, the 2 liter diesel engine is available with 6 speed manual and DSG automatic gearbox options.
