Fiat India has just begun the media drives of the facelifted Grande Punto, which is christened the Punto EVO for the Indian car market. The car will be launched in August and a steady stream of spyshots have revealed quite a bit of what the Punto EVO will pack in, in terms of looks and features. The latest leak around the Punto EVO involves the features that the new car will come with.
The Punto EVO will be sold with 7 variants for the buyer to choose from, 3 in petrol and 4 in diesel. While the petrol and turbo diesel engined variants will have the Active, Dynamic and Emotion variants as common, the Sport variant will be limited to the 90 Bhp diesel variant. In terms of equipment, the Punto EVO’s variant line up seems similar to that of the pre-facelift model.
The car gains new paint jobs and will be available with a choice of 7 colours. The interiors come in a choice of two trims, dual tone and monotone. The petrol powered Punto EVO will feature a 1.2 liter-4 cylinder FIRE motor (67 Bhp-96 Nm) in Active and Dynamic variants while the Emotion variant will get a more powerful, 1.4 liter-4 cylinder petrol motor that outputs 89 Bhp-115 Nm.
The car’s diesel powered Active, Dynamic and Emotion variants feature a 1.3 liter-4 cylinder Multijet motor in 75 Bhp-197 Nm state of tune while the Sport version gets the same engine, with a variable geometry turbocharger and higher outputs of 91 Bhp-209 Nm. Five speed manual gearboxes will be standard across the Punto EVO line up.
The Punto EVO is the second big launch for Fiat in India this year, after the Italian automaker launched the facelifted Linea sedan at the 2014 Auto Expo. The Punto EVO will be followed by the Avventura crossover styled hatchback. Fiat also plans to begin selling the Abarth 500 in India shortly. The Abarth range of cars will be sold through independent Fiat dealerships.
