Due for a launch in the coming weeks, the Fiat Punto EVO, which is a facelifted version of the Grande Punto hatchback, has already begun reaching dealer stockyards across India. While the car’s exteriors have been detailed in multiple spyshots over the past week, new spyshots that fully reveal the car’s interiors have begun doing the rounds on the interweb.
The spyshots reveal that the Fiat Punto EVO will come with two interior trim levels, a dual tone beige black theme for the regular variants and an all-black theme for the 90 HP Sport model. The car’s top end variant will get textured dashboard finish and ambient lighting to liven up proceedings. Rear AC vents will be another feature that will mark out the top end variant.
The Punto EVO 90 HP will be positioned as a premium B+ segment hatchback whose other rivals include the upcoming Hyundai i20 1.4 CRDI and the 2014 Volkswagen Polo 1.5 GT TDI cars. The Punto 90 HP will feature the 1.3 liter Multijet turbo diesel engine in a 90 Bhp-209 Nm state of tune. The engine will use a variable geometry turbocharger and a 5 speed manual gearbox.
Lower priced variants of the Punto EVO will also be offered with 1.2 liter and 1.4 liter petrol engines, and a 1.3 liter Multijet diesel engine is a less powerful state of tune. The Punto EVO’s styling is unique to India and the same design will be used on the Avventura, a crossover styled hatchback that is lined up for a festive season launch.
What are the areas the Punto EVO is expected to improve on?
1. The interiors were a sore point of the pre-facelift Punto and Fiat India has clearly upped the ante here by endowing the Punto EVO with tasteful looking interiors.
2. The gearing of the Punto Diesels made the cars the slowest off the blocks in the B+ hatchback segment. Car buyers will be hoping that the gear ratios in the new Punto EVO are altered to make best use of the Multijet engine’s power and torque.
