2014 Mahindra Xylo MPV Refresh – All The Details

For Mahindra & Mahindra, the Xylo MPV has lost the pep at the hustings and is now firmly in the under-performers list. The refreshed Xylo will go on sale shortly, at prices similar to that of the outgoing version.

2014 Mahindra Xylo MPV Refresh – All The Details

In terms of changes, the Xylo Refresh will gain the following new features,

  • Mildly updated front fascia with chrome strips at the front and rear
  • Body decals across the flanks
  • Revised suspension
  • Tweaked dashboard design
  • Updated upholstery
  • 60:40 seat split for the third row
  • Revised suspension to improve ride quality and handling

The Xylo is currently available with 7 and 8 seat configurations, both of which will be carried forward in the new model. The MPV is rear wheel driven and gets a five speed manual gearbox as standard fare. Apart from the mHawk turbo diesel engine, a 2.5 liter M2DiCR diesel motor is offered on the lower variants. The M2DiCR motor makes 95 Bhp-220 Nm.

The current version of the Xylo MPV is priced between 7.73 and 10.79 lakh rupees ex-showroom Delhi. The ladder framed MPV takes on the likes of the Toyota Innova and the Chevrolet Enjoy. The Xylo sells more in the cab segment than in the family MPV segment. This is one facet of the MPV that Mahindra would want to change in the next generation.

Mahindra recently set up a North American Technical Center at Michigan, Detroit. Among many new products, the next-generation Xylo MPV will also roll out from this research facility. The next-gen Xylo MPV is due for a 2017 launch. Expect major revisions across the board as the next-generation Xylo will start as a clean sheet design. A lighter, refined, more fuel efficient Xylo with a slew of new features are likely in the MPV’s next generation.
