The 2015 Volkswagen Polo hatchback facelift, which will be launched tomorrow, has already reached dealerships across India. The car gains a new turbo diesel engine and a range of new features. On the outside, the car gets a minor botox job to keep it going for a couple of years after which, an MQB version will arrive to replace it. The facelifted Polo will continue to be positioned as a premium B+ segment hatchback in India. A rash of images, showing the India-spec 2014 Polo Facelift, inside out, have hit the interweb. Here’s a full image gallery of the 2014 Polo Facelift.
The biggest visual changes on the car are limited to the front end, where the 2014 Polo Facelift gets new headlamps, a new bumper and a revised air dam with a dollop of chrome added. The fog lamps also get the cornering function, a unique feature that is restricted to the India-spec Polo Facelift. The alloy wheels are new items while the facelift at the rear is more restrained with the only major change being the re-profiled bumper. Two new colours – Blue and Orange will be offered. In a nutshell, the facelift of the exteriors is mild and the same theme continues to the innards of the car.
On the inside, key changes include a flatter steering wheel and silver accents for the center console. The car also gets foot-well lighting and a mildly revised instrumentation console. The single most important change on the Polo Facelift concerns the diesel powered model. The Polo Diesel Facelift does away with the noisy 1.2 liter-3 cylinder TDI turbo diesel motor (75 Bhp-180 Nm) for a more refined and powerful 1.5 liter-4 cylinder TDI motor that outputs 89 Bhp and 230 Nm. The Polo Diesel 1.5 TDI is expected to be much more sprightly.
The petrol variant of the Polo will be available with the 1.2 liter-3 cylinder MPI petrol engine for the base variant with the more powerful, 1.2 liter-4 cylinder, TSI turbo petrol motor likely to be offered on the higher variants. The GT TSI and GT TDI, high performance variants will go on sale a month down the line. The GT TSI model features a 7 speed dual clutch DSG automatic gearbox while the GT TDI model could also use this gearbox or stick to the 5 speed manual gearbox.
