2014 Volkswagen Vento Facelift Spotted Testing in India

With the launch of the Polo Facelift out of the way, Volkswagen India has begun channeling energies towards the Vento sedan, its second best selling car here. The Vento sedan will get a facelift similar to what the Polo hatchback received. First test mules of the Vento Facelift have just been spotted and it is only a matter of time before the car joins the launch brigade this festive season.

The Vento Facelift borrows the front-end styling from the Polo Facelift, replete with new headlamps, chrome striping running across the bumper, which sees a re-profiling, and new fog lamp enclosures. At the rear, minor revisions to the tail lamps and bumper are expected. On the inside, the Vento Facelift is expected to borrow the new Piano finish for center console and the new flat bottomed steering wheel. The dashboard colour scheme could also see a revision.

The real story around the Vento Facelift will be the new turbo diesel motor it packs in. Like the Polo GT TDI, the Vento Facelift will dispense with the 1.6 liter TDI turbo diesel engine, to usher in the new 1.5 liter-4 cylinder India-specific diesel motor. Armed with the same 103 Bhp-250 Nm output, the new turbo diesel motor is also likely to get a new transmission option on the Vento, in the form of a dual clutch DSG automatic gearbox.

The petrol powered Vento is expected to retain two, four cylinder engine offerings, a 1.6 liter naturally aspirated MPI unit and a 1.2 liter turbo charged TSI unit. While the 1.6 liter MPI motor will make do with a 5 speed manual transmission, the 1.2 liter TSI will continue with the 7 speed DSG twin clutch automatic gearbox. Expect the Vento Facelift to be in Volkswagen showrooms in the next few weeks.
