Audi India will soon launch the facelifted, 2015 A6 luxury sedan in India. While the launch will happen in early 2015, the German luxury car maker has already begun importing the A6 Facelift into India. Two completely built units (CBU) of the Audi A6 Facelift sedan have been imported into the country for the mandatory homologation process at the Automotive Research Institute of India (ARAI). Both turbo petrol and turbo diesel engined variants of the A6 sedan will be offered in India, albeit with a key change.
Downsizing is the latest mantra in the automotive industry as continual engine development has now made it possible to squeeze out more from smaller motors. In the 2015 A6 sedan facelift, the 2 liter TFSI turbo petrol motor will make way for the smaller 1.8 liter TFSI motor. The new motor will power the entry level variant of the luxury sedan. The 1.8 liter TFSI turbo petrol motor, in its lowest state of tune, makes 175 Bhp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque. The motor also gets 188 Bhp-320 Nm outputs, which is what it will be offered in the A6 Facelift with.
Internationally, this engine is sold with 6 speed manual and 7 speed DSG twin clutch automatic gearboxes. In India, Audi is likely to dump the CVT automatic unit-2 liter TFSI combination for the 1.8 liter TFSI-7 Speed DSG layout driving the front wheels of the car. The entry diesel engine of the facelifted A6 will be the 2 liter-4 cylinder TDI turbocharged motor with 177 Bhp-380 Nm outputs, as indicated by the car’s 35 TDI badging. On the facelifted version, a twin clutch DSG automatic transmission will be standard fare, replacing the CVT automatic unit of the current crop of Audi A6 sedans sold here.
In terms of design changes on the interiors and exteriors, the 2015 Audi A6 Facelift will receive a new front end replete with matrix LED headlamps, a new bumper, revised front grille and air dams. On the flanks, new alloy wheels and side sills are the only changes while the rear of the car features new tail lamps with sweeping indicators, a bumper job and new tail pipe extensions. The innards of the A6 Facelift will get a larger infotainment unit with better performance and new features. The car will be assembled in India through the CKD route, at Audi’s Aurangabad assembly unit.
