As per a new web report from the Philippines, Ford could officially unmask the 2015 Endeavour/Everest 7 seat luxury SUV in mid-November 2014. The 2015 Endeavour will arrive into India next year, as the current version’s replacement. The 2015 Endeavour will feature completely revised styling on the outside, exhibiting Ford’s new design philosophy replete with the hexagonal grille up front. Under the skin though, a rugged ladder frame will be retained. The SUV will be a seven seater offering in India, and continue to use the latest Ford Ranger pick up truck’s platform. Ford’s development center at Australia has been instrumental in putting together the 2015 Endeavour.
A key change on the 2015 Endeavour will be the adoption of a coil spring rear suspension, in place of the leaf sprung rear of the previous version. This change is expected to improve ride quality of the 2015 Endeavour, making it more comfortable than the outgoing model. In terms of engines and transmissions, 2.2 liter-4 cylinder and 3.2 liter-5 cylinder turbo diesel engines will be offered on the 2015 Endeavour, along with 6 speed manual and automatic gearboxes. Power and torque figures of the two TDCI turbo diesel motors are not available just as yet, but expect both engines to offer better performance than the 2.5 liter and 3 liter TDCI motors of the outgoing SUV.
The SUV is expected to get a new, terrain sensing four wheel drive system, similar to the ones found on Land Rover and Range Rover SUVs. Both rear wheel drive and four wheel drive variants of the 2015 Endeavour SUV will be built depending on specific market requirements. On the inside, a completely revamped dashboard, along with more features such as the SYNC2 infotainment system and voice assist will be offered on the 2015 Endeavour SUV. In India, the 2015 Endeavour SUV will be built at Ford India’s Maramalainagar factory, off Chennai. Completely knocked down (CKD) kits of the 2015 Endeavour will arrive into India from Thailand, after which Ford will assemble the CKD kits into fully finished SUVs. In India, expect the 2015 Ford Endeavour SUV to be priced similar to market leader, the Toyota Fortuner.
