The 2015 Honda Jazz premium B+ hatchback has been spotted in India, yet again. The first spotting of an uncamouflaged 2015 Jazz came earlier this year. Honda has stated that the launch of the 2015 Jazz could be a delayed by a bit, with the original schedule of March 2015 likely to be overrun by a month or two. However, the latest set of spyshots indicate that trial production of the hatchback has begun. In its second coming into India, the 2015 Jazz will feature both petrol and turbo diesel engine options. The car is likely to be positioned close to the Amaze in terms of price and positioning, with the latter pegged a few tens of thousands above the Jazz.
The Jazz is a sub-4 meter car that will wrangle with the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20 and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchbacks. Instead of taking a performance centric approach like Volkswagen and Fiat have done with offerings such as the Polo GT twins and the Punto EVO 90 HP, the Jazz will be an out and out family hatchback, peddling versatility and fuel efficiency. Innovative space management on the inside, one of Honda’s biggest strengths on the back of their Human Machine Interface design philosophy, will find major expression on the 2015 Jazz.
In terms of engine options, the 1.2 liter-4 cylinder i-VTEC petrol motor, in 87 Bhp-108 Nm state of tune, will be a carry over from the Brio and the Amaze, while the latter will also give the Jazz its 1.5 liter-4 cylinder i-DTEC turbo diesel motor in 98.6 Bhp-200 Nm state of tune. Honda is expected to add sound deadening material to refine the Jazz Diesel to levels acceptable to a premium hatchback buyer. The car will also feature ample localization in excess of 90 % to make for a competitive price tag. In its second coming into India, the Jazz will gun for bigger numbers what with the premium hatchback segment maturing over the years.
