2017 Maruti Celerio Facelift launched

Maruti Suzuki has just launched the refreshed Celerio. The facelifted model comes 3 years after this hatchback was first launched. Over the past 3 years, Maruti has sold 3 lakh units of this car. The facelift is meant to keep the Celerio fresh until an all-new model arrives in 2 to 3 years’ time. Prices start from 4.15 lakhs.

What’s new?

The grille, a chrome element on the bonnet, a reprofiled front bumper and redesigned fog lamp housings are stylistic changes at the front. At the rear, the bumper gets a refresh, and so does the hatch lid, which now gets a garnish. On the inside, the car gains new seat fabric, a greige colour scheme and silver accents on certain parts.

Safety gets a big leg up on the facelifted model, what with the Celerio now meeting BNVSAP (Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program) regulation ahead of its implementation. Twin airbags and ABS are now available as an option across all Celerio variants.

Under the hood, nothing has changed. The Celerio is available with petrol and petrol-CNG dual fuel options. The 1 liter-3 cylinder K-Series motor is staple. Power and torque outputs of 67 Bhp-90 Nm remain unchanged from before while transmission options consist of 5 speed manual and automated manual gearboxes.

In India, the car takes on stablemate WagonR and the Tata Tiago. Over the past few months, the Tiago has been nipping on the Celerio’s heels. The facelift is expected to do its bit to boost sales of this hatchback. Moreover, Maruti will soon launch the Celerio X, a more butch version of this car.
