After the plethora of spy pictures of the facelift of 2017 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross on Internet, the company finally released the official pictures and video of the car. Indian market will get the new S-Cross by early next year but it will be launched in the European markets by September 2016.
This is the first facelift of the S-Cross after it was launched last year in India and also became the first car to be sold through the premium Nexa dealership network of Maruti.
How has the car changed?
The new S-Cross is bigger than the current one that means more space is added to the already spacious car. The most striking change is the front grille which is now thin vertical slats instead of the current thick horizontal grille.
The new car also gets projector headlamps with chrome garnish and LED daytime running lamps. The bumper also gets an overhaul and becomes more aggressive now. The air dam is now bigger with fog lamp housings on either side of the dam.
From the side and rear, the car remains more or less same as the current one, except the new LED tail lamps and slightly reshaped rear deck.
What is new inside the car?
To add more premium value to the car, Suzuki has used soft touch material extensively. The updated car will also feature touch-sensitive infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is also seen on the current top-end models of Baleno and Vitara Brezza.
Anything new under the hood?
Currently, the S-Cross is offered with the only option of diesel engines but the 2017 S-Cross will feature a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that will produce a maximum of 100 Bhp of power and 133 Nm of maximum torque. The diesel engine options remain the same as the current one. A 1.3-litre, four-cylinder diesel motor that produces 89 Bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque along with the 1.6-litre four-cylinder unit that produces a maximum of 118 Bhp of power and 320Nm of maximum torque will be available with the update.
The S-Cross will carry a lower price tag than the current model because of the introduction of a petrol engine. As of now, the car price starts at Rs. 8.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
