2018 Audi Q5 launched in India

Audi India has launched the all-new second generation of the SUV at a starting price of Rs. 53.25 lakh. The Q5 is available in different variants – Premium Plus and Technology. The fully loaded technology variant is priced at Rs. 57.6 lakh. The all-new car will reach India as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits and will be assembled at Volkswagen’s Aurangabad plant.

The 2018 Q5 is built on the flexible MLB Evo platform and looks quite similar to the flagship SUV, the Q7. With the new underpinnings, the car has lost around 100 kg of weight over the predecessor. The new Q5 is also larger than the previous version and offers a longer wheelbase and more headroom.

The SUV gets sharper looks with Audi’s latest family design.  There is a single-frame large grille that is accompanied by Matrix LED headlamps and a very sporty bonnet design. The rear gets LED headlamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a new bumper with new diffuser.

The interior has been updated as well. The vehicle gets a 12.3-inch instrument console on the centre while there is a high-tech Heads-up Display (HUD), The infotainment system gets advanced smartphone integration, voice command recognition, 10 GB internal space for storing music, navigation and more. The new Q5 also offers wireless charging for Qi-enabled phones. The feature list is quite long with features like three-zone climate control, cruise control, leather upholstery and electrically adjustable leather seats. The infotainment uses an updated Audi MMI system with an output from Bang and Olufsen 3D surround sound system.

Audi has also added a long list of safety features like adaptive cruise control, active lane assist, collision avoidance assist, pre-sense front and rear, park assist, blind spot warning and much more.

The new Audi Q5 is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine that produces a maximum of 187 Bhp and 400 Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission that gets dampers and flywheel. The car does 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 218 km/h. The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency is 17.01 km/l which is quite good.
