Bajaj Auto has just launched facelifted, 2018 models of the Avenger cruiser motorcycles. Both the Street and Cruise 220 models of the Avenger get major stylistic and feature changes for 2018. Prices of both bikes will be announced soon, after which they’ll be available nationwide.
Both bikes are expected to undercut the recently launched Suzuki Intruder 150 by a few thousand rupees. The pre-facelifted Avenger Street 220 sold for about Rs. 92,000. The new bikes are expected to be priced at about Rs. 95,000 or even slightly lower.
In terms of changes, both bikes get new headlamps and LED DRLs as major updates. They also get a fully digital instrument clusters. The instrument cluster reads out speed, distance, has two trip meters, a fuel bar gauge and a service reminder. Both bikes also get new body graphics and new paint schemes.
While the Street 220 gains a visor and new grab rail, the Cruise 220 gets a backrest for the pillion. These changes are expected to make the Avengers more attractive for buyers, and much better value-for-money than the new entrant – the Suzuki Intruder 150.
The 2018 Avenger 220 Street and Cruise cruiser will be powered by the same 220cc, four stroke petrol engine. This single cylinder engine, which also powers the Pulsar 220, delivers 19 Bhp of peak power and 17.5 Nm of peak torque. The air and oil cooled engine is paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox. The engine uses twin spark ignition, and an electric starter is standard. It’ll push the 2018 Avengers to a top speed of about 120 Kmph, making them faster than the Suzuki Intruder 150. Bajaj also has plans of launching a 373cc version of the Avenger in future. That’s expected to be an all-new bike with the chassis and mechanicals derived from the Dominar streetbike.
