2018 Hyundai Creta: Things you should know about it!

2018 Hyundai Creta: Things you should know about it!

Hyundai is working on the facelift version of the Creta and the vehicle has been spied testing in India too. The highly popular mid-size SUV will get new looks later this year. What are the most important things that you should know about the upcoming Creta? We tell you.

Sunroof

The sunroof is becoming a common feature in the affordable car segment and the upcoming Creta will feature one too. The latest spy picture shows that the upcoming Creta will get a sunroof. No other SUV in the segment offers a sunroof right now except the Mahindra XUV, which is a seven-seater vehicle and more expensive than the Creta.

Looks more aggressive

With minor changes to the exteriors, the new Creta definitely looks much more aggressive than the current version of the vehicle. The car gets new bumpers at the front and rear, newly shaped headlamps with integrated DRL and a new grille. While the international model gets a chrome-less grille, the Indian version will be slightly different.

The new Creta also gets aggressive looking dual tone alloy wheels with the top-end variant while the lower variants also get new alloys. All these changes make the new Creta a bit more aggressive than the current model.

A lot of chrome!

The new Creta will gain a new chrome belt line that will trace the window line. It adds a very premium touch to the vehicle. Even the front grille, which is matte black colour in the international markets will get a chrome job for the Indian market. The love of chrome parts in India will ensure all these changes in the upcoming vehicle.

Remapped engines

The new Creta is expected to get the same engine options as the current mode. There will be a 1.4-litre diesel, 1.6-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol. Just like the Verna, Hyundai will tweak the 1.6-litre diesel engine to give a better low-end torque. This makes the driving in heavy traffic situations and city driving a breeze and much easier. The petrol engine will remain the same. The 1.4-litre diesel engine may get dropped from the line-up as Hyundai did with the new Verna but it has not been confirmed yet.

Reworked interiors with new infotainment

The interiors of the new vehicle will largely stay similar to the current model. However, they will be slightly reworked to keep the interiors fresh. With the sunroof, Hyundai may also introduce the ventilated seats similar to the Verna. It will be a segment-first feature if they launch it. The infotainment was recently updated with additional features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The features of the infotainment system will remain same but the screen will grow larger in size.

Expected launch date

Hyundai has already started doing the India-specific tests of the Creta. The car is expected to launch around the July in the Indian market. The direct rival of the Creta, in form of the Duster, will also be launched later this year.

Will carry a similar price tag

The new 2018 Hyundai Creta is expected to carry a similar price tag as the current variants. Currently, the price starts at Rs. 9.99 lakh and the top end variant goes up to Rs. 13.04 lakh automatic variant.  There will be a minor change in the prices of the new Creta, if at all.
