In August this year, the recently unveiled all-new, 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV will be launched in India. The first official video of the MPV has now been released. The video shows everything there is to know about the Indonesia-spec Ertiga, which will be very similar to what is offered in India save for the diesel variants. The 2018, all-new Ertiga is based on the HEARTECT platform that uses lightweight, high tensile steel to keep the kerb weight low and structure stiffness high. The MPV will be longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model. It’ll offer more space on the inside, both for passengers as well as for luggage.
The MPV will get a brand new 1.5 litre K-Series petrol engine with a four cylinder layout and variable valve timing. The engine will produce 106 PS of peak power and 140 Nm of peak torque. 5 speed manual and 4 speed torque converter automatic gearboxes will be offered with this engine, which will drive the front wheels of the new MPV.
There’s talk about Maruti giving the new Ertiga an all-new, 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine developed in-house by Suzuki. The specifications of this engine remain unknown for now. If this engine doesn’t make it to the new Ertiga, the current 1.3 litre Fiat Multijet diesel with 89 Bhp-200 Nm will be carried over.
The new Ertiga gets a revamped exterior design that makes it look a lot more upmarket and angular, more in line with the new Toyota Innova Crysta rather than the outgoing Ertiga. The interiors are also new, with a full beige trim. Roughly inspired by the interiors of the new Dzire, the new Ertiga’s interiors do have significant amounts of differentiation. There’s a push button start, fully foldable second and third rows of seats, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, roof mounted AC vents, a new instrument cluster and manual air conditioning.
