2018 Renault Kwid Facelift launched in India

Renault India, the local subsidiary of the renowned European car maker, has just launched an updated version of the Kwid hatchback. The 2018 Renault Kwid facelift has gone on sale at a starting price of Rs 2.66 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Standard trim level.
The company claims that the new 2018 Kwid has been priced the same as the earlier version. However, the updated Kwid comes with a handful of new features, including a reverse parking camera, a rear seat armrest, and a 12-volt electric socket. Moreover, the company has also equipped the refreshed Kwid with Emergency Locking Retractors (ELR) for the rear seat belts. This should enable the rear seat belts to easily extend and retract as per the occupant’s movement. More importantly, it will ensure quick locking of the seatbelt in case of an impact or on a sudden stop. On the outside, the 2018 Renault Kwid facelift gets an updated chrome grille. Other highlights of the features list include – a 7-inch touchscreen Media Nav infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, one-touch lane-change indicator, front speakers, and speed-dependent volume control.
The 2018 Renault Kwid facelift is on sale in six colour options – Fiery Red, Planet Grey, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze and Electric Blue. The specifications remain unchanged, which means the Kwid continues to offer 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre SCe (Smart Control Efficiency) engines that come mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard. The high-end trims of the 1.0-litre engine variant also get an optional 5-speed Easy-R AMT. The 0.8-litre engine offers a maximum power of 53 bhp and a peak torque of 72 Nm. The 1.0-litre engine outputs a maximum power of 67 bhp and a peak torque of 91 Nm. The Kwid is underpinned by the Renault-Nissan CMF-A platform. It offers a segment-leading boot space of 300-litres.
Speaking on the launch, Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations, said, “With more than 2.5L customers, Renault KWID has successfully carved a unique position for itself in the compact car segment. We have kept KWID contemporary with regular product enhancements that reflect the rapidly changing and evolving customer trends. Taking this forward, the Kwid 2018 Feature Loaded Range combines design and technical advancements with compelling pricing, which makes it an even more attractive proposition. We look forward to further strengthening Kwid’s popularity and welcoming more customers into the Renault family as we endeavour to consolidate our presence in India”.
