From the outside, the new Camry looks exactly the same as the previous model. The interior changes include a new steering wheel, new Kogane leather seats and new carbon wood finish on the dashboard. Everything else remains exactly the same as the previous year model of the Camry Hybrid. The Camry Hybrid boats with best-in-class features like power recline rear seats, 9 SRS airbags and 19.16 km/l of fuel efficiency in the segment.

Toyota had discontinued the hybrid vehicle due to the implementation of the GST (Goods and Service Tax). The new tax structure steeply raised the price of the vehicle, which affected the sales badly. Earlier this month, the Camry Hybrid was put back on the assembly line. However, the number of units produced has gone down by 25%. Toyota assembles the vehicle in India and does not completely manufacture it here.

The car draws power from a 2.5-litre beltless petrol engine that works in synchronisation with an electric motor. The car uses a complex ECU called Hybrid Synergy Drive to monitor the driving conditions and switch power between the petrol engine or the electric motor. Both the conventional and electric motors cumulatively produce a maximum power of 202 Bhp. The car gets an e-CVT automatic transmission. Mechanically, the vehicle remains same as the previous model.

The Camry Hybrid comes with a long list of features. There is a 12-speaker system from JBL, which is powered by a touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets navigation from MapMyIndia. It gets automatic 3-climate zone air-conditioner and rear reclinable seats making the vehicle a perfect choice for chauffeur driven customers. It also gets front-seat ventilators, Heads-Up Display and puddle lamps.

Toyota also used to offer the regular Camry in the Indian market but it has been discontinued due to the almost negligible price difference between the hybrid and regular versions. The Camry Hybrid gets FAME benefits of up to Rs. 70,000 making it much more affordable.
