2018 TVS Wego automatic scooter launched in India: Rivals Honda Activa

Indian two-wheeler manufacturer TVS has launched the updated Wego scooter in India. The new TVS Wego is priced at Rs 53,027 ex-showroom (Delhi), making it cheaper than the Honda Activa. The updated TVS Wego gets updated styling, new colours and added features including a pass-through switch but remains the same mechanically.

The overall styling of the 2018 Wego remains unchanged but TVS has given its 110cc scooter new body graphics. The Wego is now available in four new colours – Red, Blue, Grey and Black. Owners can also opt for sporty wheel rim stickers.

The 2018 TVS Wego also gets a new dual-tone seat with red stitching which TVS claims has been designed to offer more comfort to the rider and passenger. Other new features include a 20-litre utility box, a pass-by switch and a maintenance-free battery.

Mechanically the new TVS Wego remains unchanged and continues to use the same 109.7 cc engine that produces 8 bhp of power at 7,500 rpm and 8 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. This engine is mated to V-Matic automatic gearbox and offers a best-in-class mileage of 62 km/l. These numbers are similar to what the Honda Activa offers.

The TVS Wego features a duplex tubular frame chassis and gets telescopic suspension up front while at the rear the rough stuff is handled by a unit swing with a gas-filled hydraulic damper at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 220 mm disc up front and a 130 mm drum at the rear. These features make it better than the Honda Activa.

The Wego measures in at 1,834 mm long, 640 mm wide, 1,115 mm tall and has a wheelbase that is 1,275 mm long. The ground clearance of the Wego is 150 mm and the scooter weighs in at 108 Kgs. Speaking about the launch of the updated Wego, Aniruddha Haldar, Vice President (Marketing) Commuter Motorcycles, Scooter and Corporate Brand, TVS Motor Company said,
