Indian carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra is busy preparing for an SUV push in the coming months. A spy video uploaded by purush D man on youtube has revealed one these SUVs, the facelifted TU300 testing ahead of its launch next year.
The TUV300 facelift test mule was spotted near Chennai and was heavily camouflaged to ensure its secrets remain safe from the roving eye of the spy photographers. The spied TUV300 facelift seems to be in the early stages of testing and doesn’t seem to have any major changes visible right now.
However, when it does arrive in 2019, we expect Mahindra & Mahindra to update the design of the tank-like TUV300 with a few cosmetic tweaks, which could mean a few small changes to the grille, the bumpers and the lights among others.
Meanwhile, the TUV300 will also get a host of upgrades in terms of features to make it compliant with updated safety norms and the SUV is expected to sport dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard in all variants offered to the public. The facelifted Marazzo is also expected to feature a larger touchscreen infotainment setup in higher-spec models. Other features like rear AC vents, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a day/night IRVM are expected to make it to the facelifted version of the TUV300.
The TUV300 is currently powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that cranks out 84 bhp and 230 Nm of torque which is sent to the rear wheels via either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Mahindra could just update this engine for the facelifted 2019 TUV300 but there is a possibility that a version of the Marazzo’s new BS-VI compatible 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine could make its way under the hood of the 2019 TUV300 SUV from Mahindra & Mahindra. The engine produces 121 Bhp and 300 Nm of torque in the Marazzo but could be re-tuned for use in the TUV300 SUV.
The facelifted Mahindra TUV300 is expected to arrive after the launch of the Hyundai Creta-rivalling S201 compact SUV in the first half of 2019. The S201 will be the third new utility vehicle from Mahindra after the recently launched Marazzo MPV and rebadged Ssangyong Rexton which could bear the XUV700 badge when it arrives next month.
