2019 Renault Kwid RxL with airbags & ABS: Walkaround video

Indian market will soon get stricter safety norms that make ABS, driver-side airbag, rear parking sensors and speed alert warning mandatory for the vehicles. Renault launched the 2019 version of the Kwid recently in the market with all these features as standard across the variant. This is the RXL variant, which is placed just above the Standard base variant of the model and it is priced at Rs 3,35,900, ex-showroom. The entry-level hatchback from Renault gets no changes on the exterior in the 2019 version. It looks similar to the last year model and gets the same features on the outside too. The RXL variant gets black front grille, black ORVMs, black door handles and standard steel rims with silver wheel caps.

The RXL variant of the Renault Kwid gets powered only by the 0.8-litre SCe engine and the more powerful 1.0-litre engine is not available with this particular variant. The engine produces a maximum power of 54 Bhp at 5,678 rpm and a peak torque of 72 Nm at 4,386 rpm. The more powerful 1.0-litre engine is only available with the top-of-the-line RXT(O) and Climber variants. The 999cc, three-cylinder engine produces a maximum power of 68 PS at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 91 Nm at 4,250 rpm. The RXL version offers a 5-speed transmission while the more powerful 1.0-litre engine option is also available with a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission.

On the inside, the RXL variant gets a standard infotainment system with a monochrome LCD screen. It gets USB, AUX-input and Radio support but there is no Bluetooth connectivity available. The higher-end versions get the new touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. Renault offers a 7.0-inch coloured infotainment system that also gets an integrated navigation system. The RXL variant also gets a 12V socket that can be used to charge smartphones while driving. There is also a manual AC in the RXL variant.

The 2019 Kwid now offers all the mandatory features like a driver-side airbag, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors and speed alert as standard across the variants. The Kwid gets an all-digital infotainment screen that shows the speedometer readings in big and clear fonts. The Kwid is quite spacious too and offers 300-litres of boot space.

The new Kwid is available in six colour options – Fiery Red, Planet Grey, Moonlight Silver, Ice Cool White, Outback Bronze and Electric Blue (Kwid Climber). The Renault Kwid takes on the likes of Tata Tiago in the market and is quite popular in the segment too.

Renault offers a standard warranty of 4 years or 1 lakh km, which is class-leading in the segment. The customers also enjoy Road Side Assistance and 2 year extra warranty/50,000 km as complementary service.
