2020 Honda City: First look video reveals more

Few weeks ago, Japanese car manufacturer Honda unveiled fifth generation Honda City in Thailand. It will go on sale in Thailand first then make its way to the Indian market, later next year. The new City is an entirely new car from the current one. Here we have a video of the latest generation Honda City which shows the car inside out in detail. The video has been uploaded by Paul tan’s Automotive News on their Youtube channel.

The video is about the new RS variant of Honda City. The all new City looks completely different from the current gen City. The grille is the main noticeable change. It now resembles more with the new Amaze or even the Honda Civic. Grille of the of the City RS is the same as that we have seen on many modern day Honda’s. In comparison to the normal City, the RS variant gets black colour scheme with RS badging on it whereas the normal city gets a chrome strip.

In the video he can be seen talking about the prominent shoulder lines running between the headlights and tail lights which he finds too plain. The front and the rear bumper of the cars are also redesigned and now make the City look more aggressive. Then he goes to the rear of the City and talks about the split tail lamps and how it resembles with the new BMW 3-series. The new LED tail lights however look good and gel well with the overall design of the car.

The interior of the new City is then shown. It get an all black theme on the inside with all hard plastics, piano finish inserts. The interior layout has been completely changed and it definitely feels fresh. The Touchscreen infotainment of the screen quite large and it currently supports Apple CarPlay only (as per the video). There are no rear AC Vents, instead it gets a cup holder and the video even says that there is a possibility that in future Honda may introduce rear AC vents. Honda claims that the interior space on the new-gen Honda has grown as it is now much longer than the current-gen car.

The all-new City is available in four variants in Thailand – S, V, SV and RS. It is not known if the Indian market will get the new RS version. RS Version of the city is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 122 PS and peak torque of 173 Nm. The Indian version of the Honda City is likely to continue with the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options.
