Honda Cars India has just launched the all-new, 5th generation City sedan in India. Unveiled earlier this year at the 2020 Bangkok Motor Show, the car has finally reached Indian shores. The car is priced from Rs. 10.89 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, making it pricier than its prime competitors – the Maruti Ciaz (starts from Rs. 8.32 lakh) and the Hyundai Verna (starts from Rs. 9.31 lakh). The 2020 City is Bharat Stage 6 compliant, and is available with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated unit with 121 PS-145 Nm on tap while the diesel is a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged all aluminium motor with 100 PS-200 Nm While the petrol gets 6 speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options, the diesel is manual-only for now, with a 6 speed gearbox.

Stylistically, the new Honda City embraces the brand’s new design philosophy and looks like a mini-Civic from the front. The design is fresh, and classy, like most Honda City sedans across generations. In terms of dimensions, the new car is 4,549 mm long, 1,748 mm wide, 1,489 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The new City is the longest and widest car in its segment, and in terms of overall size, is almost as large as the 2008 Civic sedan.
The all-new City is offered in 3 trims: V, VX and ZX. The V base trim is offered only in petrol, but gets both manual and automatic gearbox options. The V trim of the car offers integrated LED DRL on the halogen three-barrel projector headlamps, LED rear combination lamps, side marker lamps, all-LED tail lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, two-tone upholstery, rear AC vents, ABS+EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist, tyre deflation warning system, four airbags, rear parking camera with guidelines, hill start assist, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with four speakers, push-button start and cruise control.
The VX trim, available with both petrol and diesel engines, adds the following key features: 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, electric sunroof, leather stitched upholstery, automatic headlamps, coloured MID, G-Force meter, 8-speaker system, auto-dimming IRVM and six airbags. The VX petrol trim gets manual and automatic gearbox options while the diesel operates with a 6 speed manual.
The top-of-the-line ZX trim of the new Honda City adds the following features: All-LED headlamps, LED fog lamps and integrated LED guide indicator, perforated leather upholstery, front and rear centre armrests, automatic folding wing mirrors, remote opening and closing of windows and the lane watch camera. The car also gets the ALEXA Remote Capability for the voice control system – an industry first feature. The car is offered in 5 colours and gets a 3 year/unlimited kms warranty.
