Mahindra is working on all-new versions of their SUVs including the Thar and the Scorpio. Recently, the all-new Scorpio testing on the Indian roads was spotted and the car looks completely different from the current-generation Scorpio. Here are more pictures of the all-new Scorpio by VijayaRagurama Vikrama Sethupathy on the 4X4 India Group. It will be launched in the Indian market next year.
The all-new Mahindra Scorpio will be much bigger than the current version of the vehicle. The design of the vehicle looks much more brutish. Currently, the testing of the all-new Scorpio is in initial stages and we can see the vehicle with makeshift headlamps and tail lamps. However, the front grille of the vehicle has grown much bigger in size and the headlamp housings are huge too. In the production form, the all-new Scorpio is expected to get a much more intimidating stance.
The body of the all-new Scorpio retains the boxy design. The wheel arches are squarish, which is a typical feature body-on-frame SUVs. The side of the body also reveals the new window line of the vehicle. Since the all-new Scorpio is much longer in length when compared to the current version of the car, it gets a larger last window. The last row seats will also offer much better space and may get the forward facing orientation. Currently, the Scorpio offers jump seats in the rear, which is only good for children.
The all-new Scorpio will be much safer than the current version and will meet the upcoming BNVSAP crash norms. Also, Mahindra will offer the all-new BS6 compliant engine with the all-new SUV. Mahindra is currently developing the all-new 2.0-litre diesel engine that will also power the upcoming Ford cars in the Indian market. The all-new engine will produce around 160 Bhp in the all-new Scorpio, which will make it much more powerful than the current version.
Since the all-new Scorpio will retain its ladder-frame design, it is will retain its off-roading capabilities. The ladder-frame of the upcoming Scorpio is expected to be similar to the current version but it will be heavily modified.
The all-new Scorpio will offer a much more spacious cabin. The dashboard is likely to get inspired by the dashboard of the all-new Alturas with a new, larger touchscreen infotainment system and updated features. Also, with the bigger size, the new car is expected to be more expensive, which will put it in the Tata Harrier territory.
Mahindra is likely to showcase the all-new Scorpio at the 2020 Auto Expo and the launch of the SUV will happen following that in the Indian market. Mahindra is also working on the all-new Thar and the all-new XUV500.
